I blocked him and still get gifts
I blocked someone (my abuser and stalker) on steam and I still get presents from this person. The block system is a joke and I cannot even raise an issue they send me right to the forums. What's the point of blocking if they can still interact with me?

What gifts are you getting, exactly? They can't buy games for you, because they have to be on your friends list.

Are you in a steam chat group with them? it will be at bottom of the friends list. Make sure you left all groups that this person who is stalking you is in. That is only way i can think they can gift you now is they are in a steam group chat still with you.

yeah that's seriously messed up. blocking should mean blocking—like, no gifts, no comments, no way to interact, period. the fact that you're still getting stuff from them even after blocking is straight-up broken.

I'd recommend waiting for more context, before judging the block system so harshly. It's not perfect, but when it comes to private interactions, users really can't do anything to you. If this user is still being interacted with, then there is still some connection to their supposed stalker that they haven't cut that a block system would not prevent.

Most likely scenario is the one i wrote above them being still in a steam chat group with the person. Even if they blocked the person, the above poster will still have to leave the steam chat groups manually.

Sadly, it goes both ways apparently...

But game gifts require you to be Steam friends.

Mate just blocking them isn't enough, you HAVE to UNFRIEND them as well. Keeping them as friend is what allow them to gift to you, so unless there away to tell the system to gift to someone not even in your friend list, it not possible as it stands via STORE. The ONLY way someone sending you something is if this is an INVENTORY gift which meant they have to know your email, and only way they know it is if you shared it to them, or offer you trade request.

You have to be "friends" with them in order select whom to gift anything in the store, you can test this right now.
1. Add random game.
2. Select as gift.
3. It asked WHOM on your friend list, there no other option.

Beware the desperation of sweaty, chronically online incels.
Why would someone friend a stalker and abuser to even be able to accept gifts? Seems quite an odd choice...

Are you dense? Girl friends a guy, guy gets attached, obsessed, clingy, girl blocks guy, guy becomes stalker.

You unfriend them, not just block them. Why have them on your friends list? Funny you call me dense, but can't use common sense in the reply to my message.

Updating this

Thank you everyone for your recommendations. I had deleted him. The gift option even says "this person is not your friend and accepting this gift will make you friends" (idk how to add pics but here https://i.imgur.com/9BQ90Hc.png)

I still went on my friend list and he was there? So I deleted him again. I'll make sure we don't share groups either. One would think blocking is enough tho.

We were steam friends bc he's my brother. I was already upset he tried to add me to a family group after two years of no contact. Things aren't so easy with this stuff.

Thank you everyone who handled this with care and made sure I was able to solve it.
Kind regards

They HAVE to be in your friends list to be able to send it in the first place.
When you gift something to someone it will ask you to pick from a user on your FRIEND LIST.
If they are not on your friend list, they CANNOT gift to you.

The PENDING gift will remain there, until you either A) Accept, or B) Refuse, OR until 30 days has pass, which AUTOMATICALLY chooses B) Refuse for you.

It does say IF you ACCEPT it will ADD them to your friend list, so push the REFUSE button, and pending gift goes away without re-adding them to your friend list. Now you don't need to leave any steam groups as that not related, but all you have to do is UNFRIEND them that it, do not friend them that all there is to it.

For them to come back on your friend list is either you accepted pending gift, fat finger adding them as friend for some reason, or someone on your account. Now you talk about adding to family share, well AS long you're not added as CHILD account to the family group, that person, can't grant access to recovery your account, so I assume this isn't the case for you, and done one of the 1st two things.
