Best way to Steam Link 2025?
I'm wanting to stream my desktop to my TV on a different level of the house. Seems that Steam Link devices are outdated and Amazon Fire Sticks may be moving that way. Is there a good device to use that is less than $50 right now?

Edit: I made a comment about this but still got responses, going to use a Dell Optiplex to run Moonlight instead of Steam Link. Guess I could try both, though, and see how it goes!

it would have to be a device made before November 2018 as that is when Valve discontinued the steam link hardware device
I think an Android TV show have Steam link app in the play store
So any device that support that and has ok profrmance should be fine
Raspberry Pi would be the cheapest choice, if you have nothing else.

I still use a steam link and it works fine

How well does it work over wifi?

I've never had any issues, I mean in general I wouldn't play games like Elden ring for instance, but played games like Hogwarts legacy without issue. Its not easy to find a steam link for a good price now since they were discontinued I got mine when they were clearing them out for like $5 years ago

Good to know, thank you. I've noticed the price issue, and most of the ones listed on eBay or elsewhere don't have power supplies. Pretty weird market!
If anyone comes here looking for an answer to similar questions, I may be moving on to using an old Dell Optiplex to run Moonlight instead of Steam Link.
There's a Link app for the Raspberry Pi which is cheap to get.
The cheapest computer is one you already own. Failing that, you can get decommissioned workstations second-hand from businesses for cheaper than a raspberry pi, and they'll have more than enough power to run the Steam Link app.
