Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy reinstated
Is there anyway of Rockstar reinstating the original GTAs back on steam? I have the originals and even the big box called GTA The Trilogy with all 3 GTAs but need a disc drive for them and from reading rockstar removed them for the Definitive edition. Not sure why they couldn't have left the old versions up along with the Definitive edition. The original trilogy is still available to buy but only on Rockstar games club account and I want it on steam.

Ask Rockstar.

they probably won't tbh, the reason they did that is so people buy the definitive instead (obviously) so it's unlikely they'll bring it back
I bought the definitive edition on my PS5. The Definitive is still $59.99 on here while physical at store it is $29.99 for XBOX and PS4/5, Switch is still $54.99. It says on here if I bought it that I would need to make a rockstar social account and not really wanting all these accounts. I just want a steam only account. And I think the originals didn't need a rockstar account. Might dig out the old PC to get the PC versions I have on disc to copy onto this PC.
If you already own the discs, then get a digital version from Fitgirls or elsewhere. Downloading a digital version of something you already bought is 100% ethical and moral. (It's also not piracy in that case. So mods, please resist the knee-jerk urge to ban me, because I'm not encouraging piracy.)

That said, it would be nicer if the games were legitimately released on Steam. People who already own the games would probably buy them again. (Their need to do so is dodgy, but then that is how publishers make their money in 2025...)

Yeah I would buy it if they didn't remove them, and this is why people pirate games because it is not available anymore. The only place to get a legit copy of the trilogy OG is on Rockstar games account and is $29.99. No linkage to steam. And is weird they still have it on their store but not on steam. I am guessing they wanted everyone to buy the definitive edition and if want the OG you'd still need to make a Rockstar account.
Contact Rockstar and email them about releasing the games on steam.
You dont enjoy Definitively bugged and unnecessary remake?
Sorry - Rockstar cnt help you. GO in high seas

Depending on the country you are in courts have ruled that it is still an illegal download even if you own a license for the product.

So I would not necessarily encourage people to do that stuff as long it is not the publisher itself who provides the files.

Point taken.

I tend to place morality and ethics above legality, but you are correct to remind me that not everyone shares that perspective.
