Old English: The word bannan comes from the Common Germanic word bannan, which means "to command, forbid, banish, curse".
Old Norse: The word banna means "to curse, to prohibit".
Old French: The word ban comes from Old Frankish, which means "outlawry, banishment".
The earliest known use of the word ban as a verb was in the Old English period (pre-1150).
The phrase "kicked out" originates from the physical act of kicking something or someone away, signifying forceful removal from a place or situation; the earliest recorded usage of "kick out" dates back to the late 17th century, where it was used to mean forcefully ejecting someone from a location or group.
The Oxford English Dictionary indicates the first known use of "kick out" was around 1697.
Just because you do not understand the language, that doesn't make the language incorrect.
That maybe so, but I like to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Particularly given what he's said in previous topics. He claims to have been taught that this is so, and if there's a shred of truth in it (which maybe there isn't) then lessons would definitely help. They certainly couldn't do any harm.
Ah, once again, taking someone else's completely different topic and trying to make it about your beef with a community ban you received. And you wonder why people think you try to make everything about yourself.
It's also interesting how he mentions that these terms are for the sports arena yet seems unaware that sports jargon and terms have been used in the video gaming world practically since the beginning.
OP refers to Original Poster of the post on forum. In this case, this would be you DeafMan1983.
Steam is Gabed, Bans are Gabed , You just got Gabed should be the new terminology of Steam.
You get Gabed a lot.
I like "you just got Gabed". Idk why.
Now I wanna find the movie poster for "you got served" and post Gaben's face on one of the actors and change the title with the same movie font
Edit: I'm currently doing that. Because lol. It would make a good meme...
Conflict misunderstanding with German Language.
Example: the road is banned -> it is wrong- it means the road is closed = die Straße ist gesperrt/geschlossen .
Example 2: the user has been banned -> it is wrong = just the user has been forbidden = der Nutzer wurde verboten. That's correctly.
Example 3: the school banned the books -> it is wrong = just the school forbade the book. = die Schule verbat den Büchern.
That's why I don't understand which sperren, schließen or verbieten. Why do you call only ban, banned? I don't have any understanding. Please be carefully.
I don't like to translate if I use from German to English.
The US banned TikTok??? It means the US forbade TikTok. That's why.
I am sorry for misunderstanding with problem for to ban. That's why to ban is incompatibly. Thank you for understanding me!
German and English are different languages, and follow different rules. Half the time English even contradicts it's own rules. Just because they are incompatible verbs in German, does not mean they are incompatible in English. As listed above, they originate from quite some time ago.
No.
Please stop making these nonsense gibberish spam posts.
No one cares that you were banned and no one cares that you have some strange fixation with the way the words "banned" or "kicked" are being used towards you.
The usage of these words in these situations is perfectly legitimate & appropriate regardless of you coming along once more and trying to act like it's not.
This problem is entirely your own problem. Time to get over it and move on with your life.
Interesting how you're the only one making this complaint, no?
Really really interesting how out of all of the German speakers on Steam, you're the only one with this problem coming through the forums making this complaint, don't you think?
