Valve employee on Skype
So i just had a problem with my phone number. I just wanted it removed from a community banned account of mine. A guy told me to ask for help to a Valve employee called "Solo"
His profile: https://steamcommunity.com/id/anster
He gave me his Skype, i gave the banned profile and then he screen shared me that he has the Valve employee badge. It looked good to me. He asked me to give him a screenshot of my recent purchases on my main account(not the banned one). After that he asked me to change my mail to his. I trusted him and i changed it, then he sent me a screenshot of the account. He told me that he temporary community ban it because he found some errors. My account that he banned: https://steamcommunity.com/id/pulescu
Then he told me that he needs to validate the account and asked me to buy 50$ steam gift card.
I told him that i don't have 50$ and then he said that he will to 30$.
I refused and then he stopped responding.
He also showed me some comments on his profile from his "clients"

Maybe, maybe not. Either way, they'd be the only ones that would be able to lift the ban. If it's due to a compromised account, your chances will be higher, though not a hundred percent. You'll have to wait until they reply. (right now it looks like 3-20 hours for a reply on the support stats page: https://store.steampowered.com/stats/support/ )

I already contacted like 2 hours ago.

No idea, you can ask them what was done to trigger it and they might tell you, buit there should be an alert or message telling you how long its for

I got the mail from steam support. I gave some ownership proof.
a) Valve employees will never assist users with account issues - only Steam Support
b) Steam staff do not operate on any other platform and that includes Skype
c) Steam staff also don't conduct their business through user accounts
d) Steam staff do not blackmail their users in return for help
e) Steam staff do not showcase 'feedback' from 'clients'

The alarm bells should have been ringing.

I am more surprised by the fact Skype still exists
Skype is outdated platform. Should have use Discord instead, OP.

It show that Steam Support is not good.

Problem is Discord is also filled with scammers claiming to be valve employees too. Check the posts from 2 days ago, someone fell for it too. My suggestion to OP is not use any of them. That way you limit how many people will try to scam you. Steam already has it's own scammers, do you really want to expose your info on many other sites out there?

If Discord CEO can not improve security, then he will must step down, or face future charge.
why are people this easily scammed?

Could be many factors. Perhaps the person is very young and lied about their age signing into steam and making a account, or perhaps they are naive and very trusting. When i used to live in Australia, everyone left their front doors open in the place i lived. They were trusting of everyone. Yet where i live now, they found a dead body 2 days ago near my house about 1/2 a mile next to a river. So environment can sometimes make people naive, and also, age. Education level can also effect this is people have not learned properly about cyber security basics.
ok but why would you change your account email to Someone elses email, that just seems like a mental gymnastics fall off the balance beam moment. The second that happen they obviously have full access to the account and you won't be getting it back.

Have you ever heard of kicking people when there already down?

Well when i lost my house in a flood in my town, people tried to scam me with stuff. It is a common thing people hurt people when they are already injured to feel superior to them i imagine. It is a scammer thing to feel superior to those they scam. Kinda like how some people buy big cars to compensate for small parts on their body.
And this is why you should not use outisde things. There are already enough scammers on steam, so again, why expose your account to scammers on multiple platforms like skype and discord? If this was your bank account, would you go to some random persons house and tell them your routing number because they said they work for the bank? Learn from this experience and do not trust anyone on the internet.

I ain't trusting no one if it's about my bank account. It's just an account i will get it back.
