Playstation games still region locked even after removal of mandatory PSN requirement
As title says.
With Spider-Man 2's release Sony removed the mandatory PSN requirement and made it optional.
But games like God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, Until Dawn, Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima are still not available for purchase.

Are non PSN regions still screwed?

Unfortunately, unless something big happens to Sony, they're basically going to get away with it. And so long as they have the money, they'll easily bribe their way out of a lawsuit regarding PSN restrictions.
You would have to ask sony as they set the regions where they sell games and a lot of the times it's outside of their control.
EU game keys from legitimate sites should work for all EU and Baltic countries.

Balkans, not so lucky.

Just ask about it in the game hubs.

I'm a victim of this, it's an absolute tragedy.

They have no reason to keep region locking the games if PSN login has become optional.
See it this way: if Sony doesn't want your money, they sure AF don't deserve your money.

A lot of games are not sold in certain regions without account linking like that for many reasons.

Even if it is optional you still would be in a supported country to use it if you want, which is enough reason to keep the lock.

You always could try to make a petition to Sony include your country into psn territory.
If you get enough people they might do it if they think that the potential userbase is big enough.......and not some weird laws are in place which make it not possible.

Yeah that's some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. These are single player games. And it is optional for games from now, TLOU Part 2 will not have PSN requirement.
Contact Sony. There the ones causing this issue, not steam. Steam has to follow the laws and whatever the publishers do, that is on their end, not on steam's end. Complaining about it on steam will do nothing. So contact their email and spam it with emails about this issue. Perhaps then they will remove the restrictions, and yea, Sony is a crap company for doing something like this.

Why people still support Sony? After several customers info leaks

If you ever look into it many game companies and online sites have had such issues including steam.
Why wouldn't someone play a game on a Console they like?
When did this become Consoles War the Forum?

I hate that.
It's lazy, it's insulting, and it's a slap in the face of literal history.

We didn't even have computer games really until the very early 90s.
I grew up with Nintendo.
What if I buy a key? Will that key be accepted? I live in Serbia.

No, for now the game cannot be purchased in countries that are restricted. Although the new PlayStation 5 games that have been released on PC, Spiderman 2, Last of Us Part 2 no longer require a PSN login, the restriction for countries that do not support PSN has not been lifted and it is still not available, even if you manage to buy a CD key through other sites that sell it, you will not be able to run it in a country that is under restriction. The only way I have come across and heard that supposedly works is to create a Steam account for a country that supports PSN, but that you must have a bank account in that country in order to be able to link it to your profile and buy PlayStation games that require a PSN connection. I hope that in the future they will lift the restrictions and that the 170 countries that do not have the PSN network will be able to buy games, because it is no longer about the PSN network because now it is no longer needed to play, it is just about the restriction
Its quite stupid how i can buy a playstation 5 in my country (Tanzania) i Can buy the Ragnarok CD and play the game, I can also buy it digitally through the Playstation if im set to another country but here on Steam i cannot get even close to that, i either need to get a new account or drop it entirely, PS Epic games store sells all these games for much cheaper so thanks steam and PS!
