Balatro is just too addictive. The best of the best deck games imo, if you are at all interested in tallying scores and poker hands.
I also have the OG version of Skyrim (Legendary Edition) and since I don't care about the pretty graphics on the newer Special Edition it runs for longer on the Deck, where the battery is concerned.
Borderlands 2 is also very enjoyable on the deck as a shooter.
GRID 2 and Euro Truck Simulator for the fast and slow paced driving games. Both strong recommendations from me. Also Burnout Paradise, if it is the classic edition.
Yakuza games, especially Y0, are just packed with content, and lend themselves to controllers best, so those are also good picks for the Deck.
Saints Row 2, if you got it, can be ran with the "Gentlemen of the Row" mod to obtain the best stability of any platform. Seriously, it runs 10x better than on Windows.
I even played Civilization IV at one point, and found it to be enjoyable. Don't be afraid to try games you would only want to play with a mouse, because the Deck has some amazing touchpad technology, and great controller configs to use by the community.
If you want to see what games in your library work the best with the Deck, use ProtonDB:

I don't really play multiplayer that much, but I've had a blast playing LAN games or couch multiplayer using Remote Play Together and multiple Steam Decks. The recent Doom 1-2 releases are a blast to play this way in deathmatch and co-op.
As far as multiplayer I have been playing a ton of Borderlands 1 GOTY lately. I haven't gotten to the multiplayer part of the game yet but that is because i haven't played the game since it was released on the PS3 and I want to make sure I can play the characters properly before going into the MP part of the game.
Excellent choice! I love my Deck. Highly recommend getting a good comfortable headset (if you don't have 1 already) so when you're playing in bed and the wife is trying to sleep/watch TV you can still hear the game.
My most played single player game on Deck is probably Crusader Kings 3, I've logged at least 300 or 400 hours of it on there.
For multiplayer it's probably Chivalry 2 or Ace Combat 7.
Some gems/must plays for Steam Deck (apologies if some of these are the same I already recommended to you):
Neon Abyss
Robocop Rogue City
The Great Rebellion
Sniper Elite 5
Cyberpunk 2077
Ace Combat 7
Mullet Mad Jack
Assassins Creed Unity (it's kind of older but if you haven't played it yet and you're into the French Revolution time period, this game looks beautiful & plays great on Deck)
Like a Dragon: Ishin!
Warhammer 40K: Boltgun
Exo One
Chivalry 2
Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2
Retrowave
Atomic Heart
I could go on and on honestly but I'll stop there.
Enjoy your Steam Deck brother it's an awesome device, I got mine some 2 & a half years ago and I've been playing it pretty much exclusively since then, I don't even bother with my Xbox or laptop anymore. It reminds me a lot of the Sega Game Gear which was my favorite handheld when I was a kid.
I do not play multiplayer games on steam deck. I only use steam deck for single player games.
