Sony Dropping PSN Requirement
On some games at least https://blog.playstation.com/2025/01/29/new-in-game-content-incentives-coming-to-playstation-games-on-pc/ although some perks will be in place for those that do link.

I find this much more acceptable than requiring it for gameplay, that's for sure. Give a little bonus as incentive, not keep entire countries from being unable to buy or play your game.
This is how it should have been from the beginning.

:nkCool:
Guess the forced padding of their user numbers didn't work out like they wanted.

100%. Imagine how different the Helldivers 2 fiasco could have been if they had taken this stance to start with.

The carrot instead of the stick should have always been the strategy from the start. Sony is so stupid sometimes.
sony doesn't deserve your money regardless

Depends on the Carrot.

Edit: I'm sure they are only doing this because "The Last of Us Part II Remastered" which is coming out.

"to offer in-game content unlocks for users playing with a PlayStation Network account

The Last of Us Part II Remastered

+50 points to activate bonus features and unlock extras

Jordan’s Jacket from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as a skin for Ellie"

So, what about the people who already own the PS4 version? we get nadda? we even paid $60+tax for the damn game and Steam users get a price of $50+tax + these goodies? nice....

For Hell Divers 2. People had always mentioned they should have just given rewards to people who linked their accounts, rather than trying to punish those who don't.

Some rewards can inadvertently be punishments for other people I suppose? At least, I think you're hinting at that. Like balancing the game to require more xp/money, and having the reward be 2x xp/money. Effectively punishing the people don't get the reward by halving their output.

Yeah, like some outfits/skins or whatever else the game offers but you also don't want to hook up just one side while leaving the other side empty handed.

Look at the goodies The Last of Us Part 2 offers for PC players who link up

That rubs me the wrong way because PS4 players bought the game first and now, Steam users get it at a better price + they get this skin? just pisses me off.

I mean, what if you already own the game on Playstation and you link up? will the playstation version get the goodies too? or just the Steam version? they should be fair is all I am saying.

I was interested in 3 of those games but didn't buy them purely because of the PlayStation requirements. Good change.

Thanks for the info.

It you bought inferior version thats your problem.
But why do you want carrot only after being offered stick?

Agreed. It should of not been forced onto people, and alienating half the world to their games who cannot get it also.

PC players usually complain that they need to pay full price for a x years old game.

And who cares for a few cosmetics and usually unneeded xp?
