Live services EOS should offer an offline version as consumers are being ripped off
Hi everyone, in the wake of the recent EOS of trash mobile "gotcha" games Atelier Resleriana:

https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/1ib558s/end_of_service_for_atelier_resleriana_forgotten/

The game is going EOS without offering an offline version and many player who had invested their time and money on resources will lose everything. This happens all the time, while I personally only played that game on day 1, it is scummy and anti-consumer to see these companies get away with just pulling the plug after siphoning a lot of money off a loyal fanbase and they have nothing to keep in return. Just having the game with the story line quest in offline mode with the ability to get all the playable characters and skins should suffice and shouldn't be that hard to do imo.

If anyone has any connection with politicians, games urinalist or youtubers like assmongold or any other grifter with a big following to remind people that you don't own ♥♥♥♥ and to give visibility to this continuing problem maybe a change can happen. It would be nice if people get reminded every time a live service cash grab gets shut down.

Steam should not be allowing this to happen on their platform either.

Their anger does not come from the games eventually ending, it stems from them not realizing that fact prior. It is human nature after all to not let go of things, in this case accepting fault or being able to change what is.

I think they should have an offline version from the start. Why wait to have that as an option until the other is dead?

Is anyone forced to do the following for a live service game?

...

No. All those steps are voluntary not mandatory.
Try treating those as optional and still complete your purchase. You'll find out how mandatory they are.

Do you have proof? If you do not, then it is best to not assume others for your own sake.

You sound like white knight from response. I did not do anything to you. I am providing fact that if gaming company do not want people to buy game, then they should not make game at all, it is really easy.

I sound like a "white knight" because you don't understand a simple fact. Movies, books, music, games, when you buy ANY creative experience all you buy is the right to access that experience under the terms presented to you. You have and never will, "own" those properties, you didn't create them. Only the creator "owns" them. That creator makes money off of them by granting you access in return for payment.

If you can't accept this, then stop enjoying any and all forms of commercial entertainment because they are not for you.

Someone forced you to buy a live service game? If not, then steps were indeed voluntary.

I swear, people are allergic to the fact, that not every game is aimed at them and that they don't have to buy everything. A little bit of responsibility and we wouldn't have half of the complaints we have here.

No need, for what? everybody already giving most accepted answer. both are private, OP is missing and left his post, then you’re the only one somehow agreeing with OP’s post while attacking everybody who didn’t agree with OP, even though most of their answers are logically accepted by everyone who understands how business works, whether it’s movies, games, or any digital product being sold (even old movie on CD or other, doesn't mean you own it), not all product do this, but thats the reason why they all has TERMS & CONDITION. Except for GOG, maybe that’s the best platform for you, oh wait they don't have Atelier, perhap they know?…

Back to OP’s post discussion again, it was about live service games like gacha, which is the most common thing that happens. Again, read the TERMS & CONDITION. Even if you’re not OP’s second account, we’ve all seen this countless times. This happens in any Steam forum. "agreed to op and piss everybody" sounds like a great idea with the best of intentions: Steam award Here’s a suggestion... give yourself post/comment an award sooner, and others will follow. Profit. But these days, it doesn’t work anymore... it’s a mainstream tactic for awards, accept it, everybody already giving answer. the game is dead, time to move on on a better game, try concord or dragon age veilguard or perhap the best one like dustborn, stop playing anime live service gacha, they'll closed anyway soon or later

Issue with live service is most publishers only see the short term income lets take mmos they aint cheap to maintain if they make less than what game makes the publisher will just cut their losses rather than having. Basicly from what i seen most publisher thought it would be succesfull ignored the ppl who pay didnt reinvest money back into the game and the fact they need a constant flow and some originality lets take concord it was litterly a 40 euro reskin of overwatch nothing unique no real diffrence beyond ugly characters but no one is paying 40 euro for an experiance they get for free elsewhere

In other words, exactly as I said.

Except for GOG

No matter how much their PR lies, you do not own the games you buy on GOG. Even their ToS specifically states that you only buy a license that can be revoked under certain circumstances (basically, the same one's Valve would revoke your license). Likewise, their sister company, CDPR states in the terms of their games variations of the same. The one for Cyberpunk 2077 goes on to further state that if you do something particularly bad, they reserve the right to ban you permanently from every game they ever make.

You cannot change things retroactively.

You should try reading the terms or learning what the game is BEFORE investing money or time.

You can't change it afterwards.

Well not quite.

There's such a thing as STATUTORY RIGHTS.

As games on GOG are DRM free, this means you can LEGALLY back them up to your heart;s content. So they CANNOT ban you from those games.

All they can do is rescind your account and prevent you from downloading them furhter because that part of it is a usage licence.

But anything you downloaded and burden or backed up you still legally have usgae of because of those statutory rights. At least here in Britain and in many other countries.

Because you bought them.

You obviously can't reseall them or redistribute them and all that.
