Windows 7 Support Ending - Refunding my Entire Library?

So let me get this straight, my games that run fine on Windows 7 I can no longer access past a certain point? If this is the case I will be talking to my bank and refunding my entire games library. I have zero interest in upgrading my hardware or Operating system.

Does this not violate consumer or anti-trust laws?

When I started using Steam I never agreed for them to control what hardware and operating system I can use, especially considering all of the games I play support Windows 7.

Not every game that is on steam (new ones) is on console. And not every game works well with a controller. But you could say there are many that are on both console and steam.

Probably because XP games didn't have as many problems running or not running on Win7. Win10 was a major change to the OS that did affect many games made prior to 2009, usually with poor performance, though some I can't get to work on my Win10 computer due to the OS changes made.

That's strange. I had more issues getting my games to run on Windows 7 from XP then I did from 7 to 10. In fact I had one game that didn't run "out of the box" so to speak when I upgraded to 10. In all honesty, my move to Windows 10 was probably the smoothest and easiest transition I had with Windows, going all the way back to 3.0

This could all be prevented from better planning and clear directions announcements. When will this happen to Windows 10/11, Mac etc. Not cool. I had literally just setup a 7 machine and do not want to go back to Windows 10 (did not like spyware system - ran slower).

This is my hope as well. I'll ultimately be putting in a second hard drive and installing W10 on it and dual booting, but if I do go through with that, I will specifically start looking at GOG and whatever other decent alternatives come along(aka no Epic/Ubi/EA/etc) that just give me the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, and I'll start keeping an archive of installers.

Some games, yes, I'll need Steam for like for multiplayer, but I'm going to completely stop browsing the store and never impulse purchase again, which I did a LOT over the years, up to and including right up to when this announcement came out. And if there's a game on Steam that I want, and I can get it anywhere else, I will not purchase it on Steam. And that last bit I say specifically to address the various cultists who insist "omg nobody with Windows 7 is buying games, you guys just aren't profitable", which is some hilarious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cope if I've ever heard cope before. I can think of literally 3 or 4 potential titles that would require Steam over the next few years that I would plan to buy on Steam because I anticipate them not being available on a preferable platform. But if someone comes along that does offer them, Valve can eat a ♥♥♥♥.

Their execution of this, made far worse by the acolytes in the forums sneering and spitting on those who dare to resist the Word Of Valve, has finished it. I've been on Steam literally since it launched. Twenty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years. This is my breaking point. I don't let Microsoft decide which OS I use, so I'm certainly not letting any other platform do it.

Your excuse for continuing to access the games is that you paid for them? But this is the future. All Your Base Are Belong To Us. Just because Steam has a monopoly you think that monopoly laws are going to stop them treating your money like a donation? No, it really isn't, because as I recall, the people remaining on XP in 2019 was probably 0.25%. The people still on 7 are around 1.5-2.5% depending on the source. And in a couple years when support for W10 ends, I would bet between 8-15% will still be on it. And with every "push" the segment of the userbase will be larger because this "no more Steam for you" ♥♥♥♥ didn't start until over 15 years after the platform launched. And now it's happened twice in a five-year span. Anyone who thinks the frequency of these "pushes" is going to decrease is delusional.
