Windows 7 Support Ending - Refunding my Entire Library?
So let me get this straight, my games that run fine on Windows 7 I can no longer access past a certain point? If this is the case I will be talking to my bank and refunding my entire games library. I have zero interest in upgrading my hardware or Operating system.

Does this not violate consumer or anti-trust laws?

When I started using Steam I never agreed for them to control what hardware and operating system I can use, especially considering all of the games I play support Windows 7.

Shift+F10, type oobe\bypassnro and press enter. Say you don't have Internet when it reboots.

That's what I said in the comment they were replying to me for :P
In Pro, just say you are connecting to a domain, even if you don't have a domain controller, and that will also make you make a local account. Likely this is behavior to ensure you have a backup account in case an Active Directory or Azure AD login has trouble.

Interesting, that's another trick. I've been using the OOBE\BYPASSNRO method, but I only do local account for initial setup and to get the Windows user name folder named what I want and not my real name. Then I connect to the MS account as usual, after I disabled and trimmed the services I do not want, and enabled some of those that I do want but come off by default.

I rarely disable built-in services, but third-party services can easily be on the chopping block because third parties are often a lot more reckless with resources.

I'm really wondering why you don't want to use your MS account in the OS? Is this some kind of paranoia or what? It's the same as your Google account in your android smartphone.

Yes, it is paranoia, and just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean a threat doesn't exist.

I don't have any deeply personal information tied to my computer phone's Google account, nor do I EVER do any financial, credit card, or monetary transactions or disclosures on there. I don't use chat rooms, I don't do banking, and anything else that is deeply personal, with few exceptions, I expect to be published. Moreover, what I do on my computer phone, I intend for it to be public with few exceptions.

My desktop PC is where I spend hours of my time; my PC is where I do things that involve matters such as my credit cards and financial information, as well as a myriad of unpopular discussions on chat rooms. None of that should be given to M$, because anything they receive is de facto accessible by the state without even so much as a warrant.

I don't have any social media outside of Youtube. I don't use the Facebook or Twitter, and I never have. Snowden and Musk's Twitter files alike proved me right years ago.

Yes, games that by the way, have a minimum requirement of win 7 or earlier. They would be taking access away to games that were sold as working on windows 7 and still do.

There is no excuse for Steam to not keep a legacy version of a player client that allows games that were bought for and run perfectly fine on a Windows 7 box to continue running.

People post that terms of service that states that steam has a right to update its software or stop supporting an operating system, but that doesn't mean they have the right to pull access to games already sold and that are in full working condition on their client's current machines.

As you keep repeating the same crap over and over again... Let's do the same.

You really should read the entire ToS then. You literally agreed to the term of getting thrown out of the door once you can't match the system requirements anymore.

And there would be no excuse? There are plenty of reasons to not provide such a legacy client and if you made yourself the work to read through all those replies on that spam of threads you should know plenty of them.

These games also require an updated Steam Client in order to play the game - which leads to the Client's requirement of Win10+.

There is an excuse. Or more to the point, there is a reason, since I dont think Valve cares about excuses. People simply do not like the reason(s.)

As a DRM service, Valve needs games to check in for verification. If they didn't do this, there would be no real reason to provide an offline installer.

And of course the other reason is cost vs loss.

Same case with no smartphone here and no use of any social media or account into this kind of stuff ( no google, no reddit, no tweeter, facedebouc etc )
And i am running w7 with firewall tools and dns tools , also one anti virus, but this is more a nuisance than really usefull because i did not use it mit function for the web... ( eset ).Despite the steam beware, i still not have taken any decision .... i will suspend steam update around december and see what will happen.
At the momment steam is using chromium v85, and support for w7 will stop at v110

Did you just tell us you're using a 3 year old build of chrome :aurip:

110 is already obsolete

I'm still using version 52 of Firefox. I didn't like quantum because none of the add-ons I use worked with it.

As a wise meme once said: "You are like a little baby. Watch this!".

I used the "Firefox" V29, and it doesn't load anything except BBS websites. I refuse to update and switched to "Google Chrome" because I had this based Mario theme and I can't find anyone I can pay to update it.

Hello
Surelly not, i am not using chrome , i am on firefox for many years now , more than 12 now i think and yes 110 is allready obsolete but it's the gap for steam when it will updated for a newer version up to 110 , it won't work anymore for us w7 users. ( now steam use v85). It's something i will follow in order to activate the killswtich update for steam.
