Steamwebhelper not responding and no fixes work

Hi, a few days ago my steam suddenly stopped working. As far as I can tell, this happened because I closed a game (specifically monster hunter wilds) as it was opening and then restarted my PC. From that point onward, most of the time when I try to launch steam, I'm met with the "steamwebhelper not responding" pop-up after a few minutes of waiting. I tried just about every solution I could find online, including deleting certain files (userdata, steamwebhelper.exe, etc), reinstalling steam, reinstalling steam in a different disk, wiping anything I could find related to steam off my PC then reinstalling, wiping all my drives and factory resetting, and launching in compatibility mode + administrator mode. Of these solutions, launching in compatibility mode works sometimes (although turning my PC off and on after seems to undo this fix). In addition, MHwilds doesn't even work properly in compatibility mode so that option is unusable. Overall, none of the fixes I've tried have been a permanent solution and I frankly have no idea what to try next. Wiping my PC was my last resort and that didn't work (although onedrive retained files despite my efforts to remove it) so any help or advice would be appreciated.

Note: I was able to make it to the sign-in pop-up for steam when launching my PC in safe mode with networking turned on. I've only tried this once however so it may not always work.

Try a steam config flush. Have you tried it yet?

Would resetting PC to factory default and removing all steam files have the same effect? If not I'll give it a shot.

I would wait a couple days before trying that. This also could be a server side issue. Wait at least 2 days. If it still happens, then reset your pc to factory default. You could also try doing a SFC/ SCANNOW scan to see if anything got corrupted since your game stopped working in the middle of it.

Evening, I'm also having the same problem, was working fine last night but since this afternoon I can't clear the error.

Uninstalled reinstalled Steam, failed, deleted steamwebhelper.exe relaunched, failed.
All drives, GPU and Windows all up to date.
Added Steamwebhelper.exe into firewall just in case.
Enabled Compatibility mode for Windows 8, disabled Full Screen on Launch and Launching as an Admin.

Stumped on what else I can do... Would appreciate any other suggestions.

Other games/launchers work fine, only Steam.

Hi everyone
I'm having the same issue this is the end of day two with this problem for me and I've tried everything on the internet to get this to work including 2 factory resets and still no luck. I did get in for a few hours late last night but woke up today to find it not working again. Incredibly frustrating!!!!!!! Like the guy above every other game/launcher works fine its legit only steam.

I also tried the Scan through the command prompt as advised by a specialist over the phone and mine showed no faults

At this point I'm hoping its something steam did and not an issue with the PCs themselves. I've also done a factory reset, which didn't work, so I'm not sure what else could work. I've had no issues with steam for almost 5 years so this is very out of the ordinary and most of the solutions that fix other similar issues haven't worked. There is a reddit thread exactly about this issue but it seems like the root causes are different because the suggestions there seemed to work for most people. I submitted a help ticket yesterday and am hoping to hear back soon. If all else fails, I'll take my PC someplace where hopefully someone can diagnosis the issue. Fingers crossed is just a steam issue and it'll get fixed quickly.

A friend suggested that it may be caused by an external program interfering but the factory reset removed all such programs so I doubt it. I have armory crate installed to help manage drivers and whatnot, so that may be an issue, however its worked fine for the past few months I've had it installed along with steam

Same here, got it since yesterday evening. Have tried every fix I've come across and hasn't been able to play or even start Steam at all.

Also on a Ryzen 7800X3D with a 4070 Super windows installed like 2 weeks ago and there are no programms interfering either, it's a Bonestock Windows 11 Install and just 3 Games so far.

Had the issiu 10 minutes ago, couldnt open steam or games btw i only looked at taks manager to find out that steam client was not responding
Then I restarted my pc and now it updated a pakage which used all my cpu.
Is steam getting hacked?

A temporary fix I found was turning on steam in compatibility mode and admin mode. However this doesn't always work and may limit what games you can run properly.

I'm also having this issue. No problems at all last night. Today I cannot access Steam. So incredibly frustrating, I just want to unwind after working all day. Never had issues before. None of the Reddit fixes work, uninstalling/reinstalling Steam, nothing. I hope someone comes up with a fix or it's something on Valve's end.

I've had this same problem too, tried everything, even rolled back bios, windows updates, installed it to a different drive, deleted everything in local appdata, still doesnt work.
