Steam hardware Survey

A few weeks ago steam asked if I could participate in a hardware survey. I accepted and then... well eventually it finished without me inputing stuff. Considering I was using the laptop and not the usual desktop, wouldn't all the answers be wrong? Why didn't it even ask "is this your usual computer?"

The survey wouldn't be wrong, no. It requested the survey for the device you were on at the time.

If you're worried that it got "the wrong computer", I've had the survey pop up on both my laptop and desktop during the same month.

What i found interesting about the survey is still half the people on steam are using windows 10.

I am using windows 11 fine even with older games.And believe me, i do not play the most recent newest games anymore as they tend to be bug ridden. I play older titles.

I am using windows 11 fine even with older games.And believe me, i do not play the most recent newest games anymore as they tend to be bug ridden. I play older titles.

I mean, Not too surprising. Not everyone has a supported system or those who do but didn't upgrade probably prefer to wait for the last moment or they don't know how to enable TPM2 in their BIOS

Most of my major gripes can be fixed by buying third party software, so I'll probably eventually switch over when Valve issue their notice that Win 10 support will be dropped. But I've no intention of moving over until I absolutely have to.

You know there is a skinny version of windows 11 if your worried about bloatware. If your afraid of using it, try it on a virtual machine first to test it out. I modded my windows 11 os to remove the bloatware, it was very easy to do.

I'm not bothered so much about that. It's the lack of being able to move the taskbar to a vertical position and the downgrade to Explorer, etc., that mess up my work flow too much. There's a workaround to get the old Win 10 Explorer back, but it's probably only a matter of time before it's fully removed from Win 11 -- as it involves accessing the old Control Panel.

But as I say, there are third party Explorer alternatives to choose from. So I'll likely opt to buy whichever one has the features I need and offers a one-time purchase option. Stardock apparently now support vertical taskbars on Win 11 in their customisation software, but I'd have to rebuy to get unlock that feature. So, I'll happily wait for now. Win 10 works -- better than 11 for me -- for what I need it to do outside of gaming, too.

I modded the taskbar too to work in a vertical position, so yes, it is possible to make it that way.

Not sure about internet explorer. I do not use it. I use other alternatives.
