How to stream PC to TV without HDMI cable.

Hi all,

As split fiction has just released, i wanted to stream my steam from my PC to the big TV in the living room to play with my partner. Is this possible and what's the best way to do so without spending heaps of money for this rare use.

Currently my PC is hooked up via Ethernet cable directly to router, but the TV is about a room or so away connected via WiFi close by to the router.

75inch Samsung Qled Q60D TV (fairly new, purchased late 2024)

Video casting maybe if you can do it?

Chromecast

Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast
Open a Chromecast-enabled app
Tap the Cast button
Select the device you want to cast to
When connected, the Cast button will turn solid

Google TV app

Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast or TV with Chromecast built-in
Open the Google TV app
Tap {#} TVs nearby
Select the video or TV show you want to watch
Tap Watch on TV

YouTube app

Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi network as your smart TV or streaming device
Open the YouTube app on your device
Select the video you want to watch
Tap Cast in the video player
Select the device you want to cast to

try a cheap adapter for the HDMI cable. there's tonnes to choose. most 20 bucks

There is even a store close to my house called FiveBelow that sells 5 dollar HDMI cords. I use them on almost all my stuff without issues.

Unfortunately running a cord through the house at such distance is not an option haha.

Does the Steam link app for Samsung TV still exist?

That would most likely the way to go stream your steam to the TV.

You could get some android box for your TV.

The Steam Link app is available on Raspberry Pi.

as the first comment mentions (though it reads as an generated copy/paste that wasn't fully pasted), but... if you can't use cables, then your only choice is wireless.

either through casting, or wireless/wired display options (might be other ways I didn't mention).

ie... wireless through wireless and wired meaning Ethernet, both requiring tv connected to router or a lan in general.

your pc (OS) should have options like this and you can find some as well, on apps like YouTube and the like.

for example, win 11 (likely 10 as well) has wireless/wired (called wired) display and then you have the random casting option across apps.
