Renting games on Steam became too expensive for me
Right now games on Steam are more expensive in Poland than in Germany, France, UK, USA etc.
The only solution at this point is to use unofficial key sites or quit the hobby.

:rl2shrug: Mostly we tend to buy licenses, rather than rent them. Why’d you do latter instead?

Steam charges the same price for all games in the EU, including Poland. So a game costs the same in Poland as it does in Germany.

Renting games? That's not a thing, not to mention that renting ("SaaS") would make things even more expensive!

OR.... rally to force your government to put more pressure on the EU so that they'll take more effort to stop this current recession spiral we're all in.

Just my 2 cents, I have no intention to discuss politics here as such I'm leaving things here. But... that's honestly my opinion on the matter.

Activision knows very well how much they should charge you for their yearly installment of Call of Shame.

And they don't sell keys. You can only purchase their games through official platform services.

Welcome to the EU protecting you. Valve used to offer games at regional pricing, and locked the region so couldn't be exploited. But the EU said this was unfair to the richer countries and slapped valve with a suit.
Why not play some of those games you already own instead?

You might want to get a console and purchase second hand games.

That might be a better hobby for you in the future.

You didn't even play WZ2/DMZ, which are free 2 play. Why are you complaining?

You also have a thread in the CoD forum.

I think they just raised the price for subscription on Xbox and Playstation, it's really expensive if you only care about having access to multiplayer which isn't even hosted on Xbox/PS servers. It's insanity.

But the second hand games you can get for less will equal out that rise in subscription fee.

It works!

Everything is fine. Hobbies aren't supposed to be cheap since they aren't necessities.

One thread is more than enough, bub.

Devs have bills to pay too. Or did you think they live in Magical Dev Land where expenses and inflation are just figments of a bad nightmare?

Got news for you, gaming is a luxury hobby, and is not a God given right. As such, it can be a very expensive hobby, and one for which choices must be made.

One thing to note, however, is that comparatively speaking, the cost of games have not risen as much as the cost of other forms of entertainment.

They have every right to earn a living off their work, so to threaten piracy isn't the gotcha you think it is, and only makes you look bad.

I highly doubt you are the only person feeling the pain BUT since this is about you ...

Couldn't have been said any better about how hobbies work.

OP needs to look into the model train hobby.

Using sites that are unauthorized to sell the keys, you run the risk of getting your key revoked by the developer or the publisher. So you gain nothing.

Good thing Activision doesn't have keys for CoD.

Renting games is a thing on Steam. There's EA Play and certain commercial licenses are a monthly subscription, too. Both of which are technically "renting".
