You can try asking Steam Support for help, though they may not be able to explain why it is happening, and they may not be able to remove the filter. Help> Steam Support> Steam Community> Community Profiles or "I need help with something not listed here"> Contact Steam Support.
That's about the only option I see that you may have to try, and again- Steam Support may not be able to help. Only way to know is to try. If they say they can't help, that's it. You may need to find a way to use the same name but with a _ or * added in somewhere to break up the part that is oddly filtered right now.
(quick edit for 2 typos)
Sometimes the filter triggers on such things, and if it's an oversight they can fix it (or at least pass it onto the right people).
They may have just implemented something new, to maybe combat the profile name advertising.
If it's new then it's not unusual to be buggy.
That is not a reported name, support acting on the report and resetting the name.
2 different things.
I have never seen that there is a filter implemented for profile names before.
Has it always been there, or is it new?
And yet not filtered in posts?
So, there is a filter for profile names. I just didn't know about it.
I wonder how all those profile names with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ etc. can still exist
