Surprised at the amount of w7 users in 2023.
People, microsoft itself does not support w7 anymore, considering how completely unsafe it is to use a computer with internet conexion on w7, not having steam support should be the last of your worries.

Prenups by definition are legally binding contracts that can not have duress attached to them thanks to all the lawyers present.
And I do mean lawyers, not Mafia enforcers.
That's what I am saying. One party thinks it was all well and good. The other party says that they signed it at the wedding when all their family was present, and the pressure of not disappointing them all and looking like a villain caused them undue duress.

Bing Bang Boom, the prenup gets tossed because it was "signed under duress."
So you created a Steam account under duress? Okay lol

You missed the point.
It's one thing to break a prenup - its an another to sign it in bad faith.

Yes.... I'm referring to you.
You have no business agreeing to EULA/SSA's if you have no intention of honoring them.

Which is really the true issue here - otherwise you'd not be denying it.

No - he created an account and didn't read the agreements and signed in bad faith.
Like many other complainers these days.

So many people never read the fine print.
We'd have a very different world if they did.
In fact, most retail boxes that use a Steam key even say on the back of the box, if you don't agree with the SSA, you should return the game to the store in accordance with that stores refund and return policy. On that same token, if you don't agree with the SSA, you shouldn't create a Steam account in the first place, as you cannot create an account without agreeing to it.

What you want is to be able to use the service without agreeing to the agreement. That's not the way it works.

I seriously doubt that. It likely won't happen for many years yet.

It will only likely happen when the userbase goes into insignificance as that's how they normally do it, as they have with Win7.

You seem maybe to be assuming according to timescale instead?

"Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10, and all editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date." - Microsoft

Read it and weep.
Now that doens't mean it will just "die"
And they may extend it if Windows 11 or 12 flops at that point.
It's entirely up to them.

It just means you will be exposed to any and all security risks that won't be patched going forward.

Also - who the heck keeps saying peoples games will go missing?
The library is entirely digital - it's not going anywhere - you just won't be able to access it on Windows 7 unless you do some fiddling and messing about.

So please stop that - that's just childish.
Your games will be there when you log back in :P

Which does not mean games are removed. It means that support for Windows will stop.

Please demonstrate how games are removed which was the claim.

how is it false?

you dont lose your games just cause of unsupported os if you go to new modern supported os your games are always there

so i go with truth

and false for your comment
No, you are going with a lie.

If their computer is capable of playing the game, if their computer played the game yesterday, if they still have the game installed, but it won't boot, and the only thing that changed was that Steam decided that their system should not play the game anymore, then what Steam did is destructive.

I don't care what kind of excuses to make to try to justify this change; this fact remains a fact.

Meanwhile, MS stopped supporting Windows 7 ages ago, and the users have continues using Windows 7 just fine. MS basically said, "we're not updating this anymore, so it won't be able to get anything new." They did NOT do what Steam is doing and say, "we're breaking all this ♥♥♥♥ on our way out."
maybe you want to go with lies but not me
You all are pulling "Habecks" here, without even noticing it. I find that quite funny! hahaha!
Info: Habeck is a german (dumb-toast) Politician, which doesn´t know/neglected the consequences of bankrupcies (even bakeries laughed out that dumb politician). And now germany is flooded with insolvencies/bankruptcies because of him.

In the end it does not matter, if you need to be updated 24/7 (using newest OS) in order to still be able to have access to your games/use Steam. This is all nitpicking, as americans would call it.

The point is: YOU ARE BEING FORCED to do that. You have no choice, except switching to Linux (which makes you lose lots of Steam´s functions and/or support to many games, which don´t work on Linux) or not go on playing with this platform any longer.
So you have the coice of "pest" and "cholera". That´s not a real choice. You have the same choice as voting for (any bad) politician right now. What you vote no longer matters, since the politicians all just want to destroy your lives. They want to take your goods. They want to make your world worse.

Habeck will be sued/thrown out the goverment in the next weeks/months. It might even lead to new-voting since that Habeck is facing really hard consequences now. That guy is in huuuuge trouble now. So i think "Habecking" is a real funny, newly created word which is very fitting here.

"Habecking" isi similar to the good old "Merkeling" (comes from Angela Merkel, another known very bad old german councelor) and means to "draw a picture, which isn´t fitting reality". To talk about "The heißen Brei" as germans would say. Basically it means you have no clue of what you are talking about and what you say will never happen in reality.

The discussion here is just similar to that one, where they argue which NEW spongebob-episode is worse. Does it really matter which episode is worse when ALL are worse then olde ones to begin with?

And they all know the newer Spongebob is MUCH WORSE to begin with. So you have the same problem there as well: You are FORCED to move on. Else you can no longer watch new episodes since they simply suck and you might start vomiting whenever you see how heavily stupid the new Spongebob looks like. It might be hard to accept this.

But this is your problem now. You are forced everywhere. You cannot say you want to keep the good old Google Map´s colours. No. You have to get used now to use the poorly downgraded colours now which look like vomit and/or dog´s poop. And just like that you are FORCED to upgrade to Windows 10 (and sooner or later Windows 11, with all it´s giant-issues, once Windows 10 is being discontinued in support as well) to go on using your software there. People having a true choice is allways a delusion.

The other "choice" if you don´t want Windows 10/11 is: you will simply no longer OWN anything. Sounds familiar?

Yep: "You own nothing and will be happy" is soon becoming real everywhere it seems. In my country, there will be no more sold CDs, DVDs and Blurays since they stop distribution of them completely. So that means you are FORCED to stream your content from the internet then. You then can no longer go into a supermarket or any electronics market to buy your music-cds or buy another bluray or the hell just even buy an old DVD. Since all these things will no longer be there!

You cannot decide to go back, since selling of CDs, DVDs and Blurays will be completely stopped worldwide they say. So this also means you no longer own these movies or the music when you are being forced to stream ANYTHING from the internet. Exception: If you bought them in the past! So this also means: CDs, DVDs and Blurays will soon reach high prices as well, since they will become RARE. Assuming you still have working titles and people just want them more then Streaming.

The other choice is: You are stuck behind (this means you deny to use the internet for Movies/Music etc). Mostly "Boomers" will be stuck behind when they don´t want to use the internet for streaming. So it will mean they can no longer buy any more music/movies then, except watch it on their TVs for free.

And this is what the government and others want: CONTROL. They have control over you whenever they want it. They want to hve control over you.

my city just announced that it will soon no longer allow PAYING with cash in busses next year (starting january 1st).

Meaning: You either pay with a smartphone then (pfff) or via other electronic payment or you use a value card, which you have to charge first in order to pay with it. Quite dumb, but that´s what they call "advancement". This is also fitting to the phrase that they all plan to get rid of as many banks in my city as is possible. They want to get rid of ALL BANKS actually.
They want you to use digital currency wherever it´s possible and stop using banks. I even plan to not be using any more buses starting next year because of this "♥♥♥♥ going on".

So what this means for a bus? In an emergency you cannot even use a bus any longer, just like you cannot use any more telephone in an emercency because it will fail to work in such a case. And next they plan to introduce digital currency for even more stuff, forcing you to "move on". So paying in busses with no more cash is just the start of it all.

Just like steam no longer supporting the next Operating System. You will be forced to use Windows 10 (Bad), then go on using aka "upgrading" to Windows 11 (worse, lacks many functions of Windows 10), then Windows 12 (which will be even worse than Windows 11, and people allready wonder which functions will be cut this time). and so on. And there will be more and more surveillance and less and less functions in each OS. And instead there will be more and more AI everywhere having control over what you do.

Making you watch stuff, which you never wanted to (sounds familiar? Yep, that´s Youtube today) or making you hear stuff which you never wanted to or don´t like. That´s where it all goes to now. That´s the direction they want users to be forced to go. It´s exactly like searching for something somewhere and you are getting 1 Billion search-results instead of an exact thing what you searched for!

They all want to go the direction of "Live services" now. They all want to get completely rid of user-input.

The next plan is that they want that AIs will take over User-Inputs for them. So that the user no longer has any input. And only a machine is talking with another machine and only AIs are talking with humans but no more human will be talking with a normal PC/hardware to begin with. See? This is the grand plan behind AI now. This is the big picture. CONTROL over user-input.

You certainly have a choice. You didn't have to create the account in the first place. Nobody reads the SSA, I swear.

but...

i can be arrested and put in jail for not paying taxes...
i can be arrested, fined, get my license revoked and put in jail for not obeying traffic laws...
i can be sued and evicted if i dont pay my rent.

as for bills, they just shut you off and make you pay before turning it back on so...depending on circumstance, that would be a bad situation.

i would say all those are something that is forced or you have steep consequences.

grocery bill? dunno about a "bill" but, you usually pay for your groceries while you are in line, unless you are shoplifting, which is something one shouldnt be doing.

So following your train of thought. (A very well presented one mind you)

Steam can shut you off for using a unsupported platform.

Interesting how that works right?

So while you are free to "say no" - consequences are still ever present.

People can accuse Steam of abusing power all they want - but all I see is a bunch of self entitled children crying for a fix for something they did to themselves.

If you want to run Win 7 - do so - but you lose the right to complain when things don't work.

Now if you really want to complain - go yell at Microsoft.
If Microsoft says "OK we'll fix it" - Steam will bring it back on line - and everyone else.
It's that simple.

You failed to do so (saying it was incorrect) you merely finished the thought - as it was intended.

Also - people who refuse to "pay" for upgrades - that's on them.
All things break - things need to be maintained/upkeep is a normal way of life.

Like tires on a car - if you don't ever maintain them or rotate them - sooner or later you'll have a blow out or worse a horrible accident.

Cheaper to rotate (if any cost at all) - and if maintained properly - last you years before replacement. Still have to replace them.

Tires also improve gas mileage - and with fuel prices in the states being stupidly high - its just good sense.

Or you don't - and you walk - or take mass transit - choices have consequences - you live with them - but don't complain if you ignore the choices.

This "Forced" business is pathetic.

Its cheaper to upgrade your hardware than it is to delay it.

This is one of the most maddening things I've seen - and people keep screaming this.

When you folks where informed of Win 7's impending support termination (like I was) - hardware specs where well within tolerances to transition to Windows 10 (I skipped 8) - so I moved to 10 and bit the bullet.

It only cost me 200 USD - didn't need to replace hardware.
Actually - I just built a new gaming system cause frankly I was due for it.

I'm still on that same gaming system - that was 5-6 years ago.

I can't help it if people don't know how to budget or to plan ahead for such events.

No one said you where forced to abandon your beloved Win 7 platform.
The only fact that remains is you are on an unsupported platform.
And come Jan 1 - that plug is pulled.

What you do is entirely up to you - but you lose the right to complain - you lose all entitlement to any recourse.

That's it. No more no less.

IF you get it to work - great job - have fun - good luck.
IF not - well you where warned - repetedly.

Since 2020 (I think?) this was going to be an foregon conclusion - you've had years people.
Years.

Complaining is just stupid.
