Exclusive Games
Does anyone know why games that are coming out as exclusive to EGS get added to steam store even though its usually over a year before it actually gets released on Steam?.

I know there have been a few games that have been added before their exclusive deal was announced, but isnt it pointless having a store page for a game we wont get to play for over a year, it just provides a place for people to argue over how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it is in their discussion boards since EGS has no forums/boards for them to discuss their games they just default to steams.

Because the publishers pay the entry fee to have the store page and such. They pay for it, so they can use it.

Because thats a thing they can do. Thats a thing STeam allows.

One could say its pointless to have a store page for any game that won't be released for another year, regardless of EGS exclusivity. So we certainly should never have had this store page:

It's how marketing works in the industry. You have to start marketing early and to be fair whenever there is an EGS exclusive there's usually a bunch of posts asking when the game is coming to steam, if its coming to steam. yada yada yada.

I did wish Valve would remove those from their store until they get released or their forum set to those that have the game. Since no one has the game they won't be any replies.

Why?

Why have the game when it available on EGS and not here?. When ever there is trouble or they need help they come to steam forum. Then the other's whine how Valve is a monopoly and they cheat devs/pubs of their 30% cut.

So far Valve has no shown no sense of competition they can start by removing stores, buying exclusives and do everything that Epic Games does. That will show them :D.

How is that sensible business or competition? When publishers have store pages and game hubs, it means people come into the Steam environment, which Valve wants.

Removing such things also causes the risk to anger the publishers, resulting in them pulling games (not just exclusives) completely from Steam.

You want Valve to lower themselves to Epic and behave like an angry toddler. That's not sensible at all.

The answer to that is obvious to anyone with a lick of business sense.

And now we know why you aren't in charge of a multi-billion dollar store front. What you describe is actually the worst thing VAlve or any company could do.

Well in a way I think its good for many users, first of all as they know then that game will be coming to Steam and can talk about it with Steam users that have the game from other places
For Valve its good as it means people talk in Steam about the game, and the more you hang around Steam the less likely you are to buy else where

Cyberpunk came to mind when i was writing this but you have to consider it got pushed back a few times, im almost sure it was not on the store until they announced a rough date, unless someone can prove otherwise?.

Ok so that just adds an even bigger question then, why would they pay for something that wont be released for a year, i mean it doesnt get any kind of advertisments you have to litterally look up the game to find it.

Still if that is the case ok, but they could at least close the discussion board until i dont know, 6 months from release or something?.

Well you pay once for it, you don't need to keep paying for the game once its on Steam (besides sales fees)
They may just want to get it out of the way, or maybe even start working on it before the heard there going to be exclusive, or maybe they think building the community now for later is a good idea

Best way to maybe find out is posting on the Hub of the game, and ask them, maybe they got an answer why they did it :D:

i think epic games store was made to encourage a multi store experience for customers, as much as i think their store is just another client added to the desktop.. but it has paid off i could be right or wrong but it seems thanks to egs alot of games that were tied to 1 store is split into multi stores and i like this because it means you get your game of choice of platform. like what EA, Microsoft have recently done.

That's actually the opposite really. There were always multiple store options before EGS. EGS actually, by purchasing exclusivity limits (even if for a time) your options for acquisition.

well sorry to say but why all of a sudden Microsoft, EA, Bethesda decided to come back to steam in the time frame epic store started?? these publishers were long gone off steam for years like ea 8 years? why come back now when this epic thing began. something is up right? maybe valve paid them back?? who knows!

Exposure. They know there are enough people who will want to buy the game on Steam and not on Epic or another store. So by already having a store [age and such, they market their game for it for when they bring the game to Steam after the exclusivity.

There is no reason to close the discussion board. People who wishlist the game are allowed to talk about the game.
