You play games and earn items which you can sell. Just like the CS-GO items.. you can buy and resale them. NFTs are no different then the steam marketplace ...

The Market exists, indeed.

Blockchain will contribute nothing—as you are so nigh to acknowledging. Except, of course, the risk and scams that seem to inevitably follow. :if_fish:

..... Steam could just convert the current marketplace to NFTs and add a smart contracts ....

They could .... but they won’t. Especially since, again, all those de-fi-enabled scams would become possible.

.... Steam would still get paid for the CS-GO items being resold on the OpenSea market ....

As long as the code is bug-free! And hey, maybe the rampant manipulation of cryptocurrency values won’t mess with Valve’s income too badly. :homelol:

.... Just look at the list of games in the marketplace, all these games sell "FAKE-NFTs" using real NFTs Steam user will not know a difference, but they will gain a freedom to trade them on 3rd party websites. Such sales will not HURT steam's income, but increase it.

TBH you seem to repeat the acronym for “non-fungible token” a lot without understanding it entirely.

Now let’s see the plan that justifies that finale, please! :devilskiss:

Steam should probably not become a destination for money laundering.

crypto != money laundering
NFT have KYC and have a lot of regulations.
If you look at how much USD is for bad things....

Good. Crypto/NFTs are just the 21st century Dutch tulip bulbs, except nobody was using Dutch tulip bulbs to launder drug money (unless they were, I'm not a historian).

NFT's will be the end of games.

My gf is a 3D artist (tools of trade: Daz Studio, ZBrush, Bryce) and that area also got infected by the NFT craze, and it didn't do the industry any good either. One could even argue that the whole thing is a complete scam just to squeeze money out of deluded people with too much cash on hand in the first place.

Ironically enough it's the artists themselves who more than often oppose NFT with a passion because it also allows others who don't know <self-censored> about 3D arts in the first place to sell of items which they didn't even create themselves!

That business with Lohan is tragically hilarious.

Smart call by Valve. Given that morre than a few countries are moving to crack down on those things Yeah. Best to get ahead of the ball on that made up money scheme.

You should try google that.
"crypto used for money laundering"

I don't see Valve change on their decisision any time soon.

If it's the future as you say, why not create a platform for NFT games and become rich.

Exactly, at some point it will eventually be impossible to use crypto because criminals hide behind it.

Never heard of any of it. You said this is where the game industry is moving. Where's the AAAs, big name devs and publishers?

Disney with Veve
Yeah? What game?

The sooner the vermin Rat is vivisected like Ma Bell, the better. And in any case all Disney does is hand off everything to the EA butchers.

You spend money to buy the NFTs.
NFTs you own. They are in your wallet & you own the assets.
You can give them away / resale them / or burn them.

NFT's are not locked into a Database which you don't have any choices with.

Again, I don't care what you think you can funge with. If you wanna have that kind of excitement, go to the stock market.

ROFL

So educate me... why are nearly all of the well recognized 3D artists (where this infection hit the worst) so fully opposed to the idea?

Could it be because... Gee, I dunno... randoms sold of artwork (edit: actually... the so called "right" to said artwork because in the end all the buyer got was a digital token) and yet the work wasn't theirs to begin with?!

May I suggest reading up on the actual process? Some regulations indeed, you seem clueless.

Its amusing to watch the grifters get all upset when people call out their grift and so desperately try to justify their ponzi scheme as if its not a giant pump and dump
