Steam Link: Display Issue, Blinking, Framerate Drop and Black Screen
Hello,
I encounter a recurring problem,
I use on my Philips 4k TV the android application steam link.
So I stream the display from my pc to my tv.
I have an NVidia GeForce 2060RTX graphics card and my PC screen is 1080p.
The problem is that often but not all the time, which is rather strange, once the application is launched on my television, I have a flickering of the image as well as a drop in the framerate at this moment- here, the display will flash several times (4 to 5 times) plus the screen will go black for 1 or 2 seconds.
Then, a new cycle, for a few seconds (20.30) the framerate will be normal then start falling again, the image will flash, black screen and so on.
I tested almost all the settings of the steam application on the PC side and steam link on the TV side but nothing worked, this problem comes back inexorably.
Some days I don't have the problem...
I also have a LiveBox Orange V5 box which acts as a switch but I don't think the problem comes from there.
I also specify that I do not download so it does not seem to be a story of flow between the equipment.
Does anyone have a similar issue? Any idea how to fix the problem?
thanks in advance

If I had to guess (and this is a guess mind) I would suspect it's either the streaming software used on your android device or the Philips TV.

Commonly when you get black flickers like this and resolution hiccups regularly, it can mean it's not getting the signal correctly or something is erroneous in that signal. It sounds a bit like the TV doesn't know what it's receiving and every so often doesn't know what resoltuion and so on to set things at so keeps resetting.

I have an old monitor that I've used for various things and if I try bunging certain resoltuions through it or signals from another console it doesn't lkike it will behave simiarly.

So your best bet is process of elimination I feel. Try to remove one of the variables at a time. Start with another TV if you can, see if it persists/. If it does then you can rule TV out.

And so on for each thing.

Did you ever resolve this? I have exactly the same issue on my Sony TV.

Hi
unfortunately not, I have since stopped using android tv and the steam link software.
It worked intermittently, changing settings on the server and the client could help but not all the time.
I'm not sure if Steam updates its software to fix the bugs and especially this one.
I solved the problem by using a nas on my TV, but it has a cost ...

I'm still having this problem on my Sony Bravia. Just checking in.

I've been having this same problem intermittently for almost a year. It happens exactly as you describe it, except I'm using the Steam Link hardware on my Samsung TV.

Sometimes it doesn't happen at all, sometimes it happens immediately. Changing controllers (physically plugged into USB on the steam link) also seems to trigger it most of the time.
