Also, some stores take less of a cut, for those who care. But it sometimes leads to deeper discounts as well.
Take the game OP wants, for example. 40€ bucks was the all-time low on Steam, but some authorized resellers had it for as low as 30€ in the past.
Any store selling Steam key is a 3rd party because they don't work with, nor for Valve/Steam, game devs use 3rd party to sell keys on their behalf, but some game devs sell the keys themselves via their own website if they set one up, example Square Enix sells keys via their own store, as well via 3rd party.
Gray market there two kinds of sites, you have gray market sites that sells the keys themselvesd that has affiliation with some game Dev, or not, what they do is buy game keys in bulk to resell, either buying bulk from game Dev, or buying bulk from one of the reliable/legit 3rd party resellers to resell the game keys.
Another type of gray market is individual resellers they're similar to eBay so there risks that come in play as you're buying from individuals that reselling their key for whatever various reasons, and there small chance may encounter a scammer that sell stolen keys by using stole credit card, or they did a chargeback months later to get the key revoke, these gray market individual reseller site also charge you protection fee buying from them when you want support from them, some even charge you for service fee for buying from them, also they have no affiliation with any game devs, or Steam/Valve.
Most trusted fast, reliable/legit sites IMO that are popular are these.
- Humble bundle
- Fanatical
- GreenManGaming
- IndieGala
- Gameplant US, UK, or DE
- Gamebillet
I buy from bundle sites for years, and can hands down, humble bundle, and fanatical are the best bundle sites.
anyways,, i may not use isthereanydeal much, but it's a really good resource tool and not only it keeps track the lowest price of all time (here or different sites), it gives you comparison and has legit deals from others too!! i highly recommended it sm,,
someone already stated this but never buy from sketchy or unreliable sites because keys will become "used" or will not work at all and considering some are illegal, don't risk yourself into that position!
The quality of the Fanatical bundles is becoming insane, they are like the old HB from 2015 and I am getting most of them each time.
You can get premium games for $2-$4 in a bundle that would cost multiples even in a Steam sale.
We should be thankful for the mugs that subsidise us, they pay for us what we don't.
