Fraudulant CS GO Tournament Voting Site
Recently I was contacted by someone on my friends list to go vote for a team on a CS GO Esports site, the site itself looked legit but when I went to vote I was prompted to sign in to my steam account. They then took my info and word for word copy pasted the entire conversation to about 8 people in my friends list using my account. I realize that I should've saw the signs that this was to get my info but I don't want anyone else to fall prey to these "hackers" if you receive a random message from someone on your friends list asking you to "vote for my friend's CS GO tournament team" they will send you a link DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK. Notify your friend and have them change their password. The "hacker" will block everyone they messaged the link to. once again, DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK

make sure you did everything to secure the account

Steps to take NOW:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

dont leave anything to chance.

There's zero reason to post the link. Remove it, you're just advertising them now.

yea I debated if I should put the link and hoped it wouldn't hyperlink so people could know what to look out for but it's probably better to not put it on here

This is the oldest scam in the book and if you would have checked this forum you'd notice more people warning against it. No offense but warnings like yours are useless because the people who should read it never will.

Also... clicking on the link is completely harmless: trying to log in otoh isn't because that will give them your account credentials (username, password & security codes). Any website which asks for your Steam account while you're already logged onto Steam is a fake.

And OP... you might want to verify that your account is still safe: https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

Does this have any entries? If so you need to remove those, change your password and further secure your account by de-authorizing everything else.

never post a link nor URL/website/etc. you are only helping them get idiots. it does not matter what warnings you put on something. you can put a warning on a button "PRESSING THIS BUTTON WILL KILL YOU" and people will walk up and press the button and die. the sites change, the names change. telling people to avoid site A does nothing since the scammers can start using site B, then C, then D.

They would have lied anyway. If you know that person in real life, do tell them to secure their account too.

FYI they just keep on changing their URL anyway. I've seen a ton of different ones before that all use the same or nearly the same site design and scam design.
Mates..this is a 2 year old thread..

Gamblers and lootcrate fiends ruined CSGO and they get what they deserve.

Surely this thread would have been more relevant if it was on the CS-GO forum/hub? You would also get less CSGO dummy/hate comments.

It's also 2 years old, there's no reason to dig it up at all.
