Oh, wait...
This was sarcasm, by the way. Calling the EGS better because of a glitch on Steam with a feature the EGS doesn't have like, at all, is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Also: Oh No! Not The Feeds!
(Didn't even know they existed before you mentioned them...)
I must have been afk when everyone was supposedly knocked offline, I never experienced that (but I may not have noticed since I don't play any online-only games.
Eastern US here. Where are you at (it might be a regional server issue)?
And they did introduce something new (in the Stable Client)- the new screenshot manager (which is hideous, to be fair). Are you on the Stable Client or the Beta Client? (I haven't run the Beta Client in ages, so I don't know wth is going on with it right now.)
Steam is fine, though. EGS is also fine. GoG is fine. Any platform that does what you want it to do and want to use it for is fine, as long as it has the games you want to play listed in its storefront. You can even use more than one, which some of us do and just go about or gaming without too much trouble.I have a few older games on Gog and use it occasionally. I have a few games on EGS, and use it occasionally. I have a ton of games on Steam, and use it most often. I have a decent number of small indie games on Itch, and use it occasionally. All of them have their own benefits and problems. But only Steam has the activity feed and easy to use game hub forums, which I appreciate, so I can talk to other people who are playing the same games I am.
Steam is 21 years old. How old is EGS again? And even using that argument Steam still has issues from time to time.
All these stores are made by humans ... which is to say imperfect beings. I expect all the ones I have on my laptop (Steam, EGS, EA App, and GOG) to eventually run into a bug or error at one time or another.
I treat each one of those as a separate entity instead of comparing them. Waste of damn time when I could be playing games instead. Isn't that the real purpose of those stores?
You have to laugh at the people on here that post on it constantly. If there are a lot of people like that on steam, posting screenshots without end, pointless comments without end, videos without end, then it breaking is Valve's gift to them.
I mean as a software engineer I don't consider any of their bugs they've had to be remotely major. Some users having issues with activity feed is an incredibly minor issue, and bugs arise, servers have issue, even if you aren't seeing public facing changes.
And is there a topical cream for it?
https://store.steampowered.com/about/ it's much more, profiles, showcases, discussions, art, screenshots, chat rooms, user reviews, activity feed, and some people even share and store their porn here!
What happens when you visit Reddit or any other large website with a lot of text or data?
You expect them to store it on our PC's? It's a trade off, to store image art on our PC like Steam or just wait for it to load. 1 second, I'm not in that big of a hurry.
Maybe EPIC should put a loading animation or see more content button page buttons like Steam web pages for users EPIC library
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1201260/screenshots/ warning a lot of images not cached! if you scroll to long, it might stop and hang. (suggest that Steam pre cache more images to users PC's while scrolling, don't be slow like EPIC, Valve.)
Must be on your end... caching problems, broken, everything seems to work okay here.
Been here 17 years, no idea what that is.
Personally, I haven't had any problems with Steam over the past few months, aside from their awful revamp of the Screenshots manager. But that's not a bug, that's a *feature*
/sigh
How come I wasn't part of it? Does the Europeans and Westerners always think their continent is the only thing on the planet to be included in EVERYONE?
That said, I haven't seen or experienced any major bugs with Steam. And no, I don't consider this activity thingy a "major" bug. It's a hiccup, as far as I'm concerned.
