It's barely even that. I just found it curious and perhaps worthy of discussion. Like I said, these threads are common but this one seems to have more support than usual. Certain game-types attract certain people-types, for some reason?

I'd stay away from them. I get into politics all the time over at the Off Topics, but it's generally Harris v Trump and handicapping the poll numbers. Or what's going on in Ukraine, and people differ.

We just have to be conscience of others opinions, and these are divided issues.

I stay away from these "woke" "anti woke" topics. They do nothing but get folks in trouble. If you're gonna get in trouble, do it for a game developer who robbed you blind.

As an aside, the only issue i may have with Kingdom Come, is this "first person" camera. Can't use it on games like that. We need third person lol.

Well, as much as you think it is the most toxic topic here the topic title looks pretty smart to me because it is the truth. The Liberal party for the most part has gone off the deep end and only deserve one thing in my opinion ... to be removed from power until they learn some very hard lessons.

While I don't like assuming there are very few options as to why you believe it is a toxic topic ... because you are a Liberal yourself.

You may find those sentiments *ignorant* but for those of us living through the disaster the Liberals have put the country through it is wisdom incarnate.

As for the awards ... can you point to which ones you believe aren't exactly deserving of them? Would it happen to be only the ones on a certain side of the political spectrum you don't agree with? That alone would speak volumes about you in a negative way.

I would argue that this is one of the most toxic topics here because it is more than likely disparaging one specific group of people because of their political beliefs ... which is exactly what I would expect out of a too far left Liberal or a too far right Conservative.

Politics are why most Steam discussions are nightmares. That's why reporting them is a good option.

I truly didn’t intend for this to become another one of “those” discussions, but already here we are. With that said, I guess the title of this thread is a little bit baity. But I was just trying to express it in terms of Community Standards. And I certainly don’t mean “Steam” community standards, but the larger, Society standards, which seem to lean strongly toward seeing such negatory, divisive views as “toxic”. For that matter, "ignorant" was meant, literally, non-pejoratively -- just, as in "u have a lot to learn, and you don't even know what you don't know."

BTW I do have extremely purist views about many subjects so, I’m actually not a fan of historical revision, either. And as a logical person of course recognize the fact that bad information can be worse than no information. (And, that said, I don't know for a fact that KCD/2 is revisionist. But some ppl seem to be getting bunched that it is.)

The orig notion was just that I found it notable that such a thread could be so robust, and, outstandingly so, compared to the very similar discussions which exist on many other game forums on Steam. (i.e. not dead in the water, or for that matter locked/deleted. Which, by the way, I’m not a fan or supporter of, tbh. Smarter ppl than me have pointed out that when you deplatform something, you push it into “the shadows” and thus lose the ability to monitor it.)

Is it because one mindset seems to always be belligerent? Hrm. And if so, could that be because traditionalist views are, by definition, always under threat by the inexorable arrival of the future? HRRRM. And if so, could it be that some people are just making their own lives harder by refusing to see that, and also pointlessly making others’ lives harder by refusing to just kinda get with the program and accept it?HRRRRRMMMM.

They say you can’t fight city hall. Well, that ain’t exactly true. But, I’d have a much harder time finding fault with this Vonnegut quote:
“You can't fight progress. The best you can do is ignore it, until it finally takes your livelihood and self-respect away.”
HURRRMMM!

P.S. making an immediate leap to conflate some of these concepts directly w/ political parties is a bit concerning, too.

P.P.S. freedom of speech can only follow freedom of personhood. be sure not to get that twisted. (esp. if you are in the US, and have a certain limited mindset about why we're even here -- i.e. the beliefs and actions which led to founding of the country)

I’m fine with this being moved to OT by the way. And FWIW KCD seems like a pretty cool game and I’m leaning towards a “buy” while it’s on this decent sale.

I didn't look at the thread at that time. They claimed it was toxic so I said, just report it.


But now I did look at the thread and went through half of it.

The amount of toxicity in this thread is less than I had expected. I find threads on this hub with more than 50% posts I'd need to report, and its diffidently below this number.

This is where a Steam user is actively denying the holocaust and shrinking how bad it was. (antisemitism)
Of course I reported the post upon seeing this, but considering it is still there and I am assuming others reported it, it shows a failure in functioning of Steam Moderation at this stage. Perhaps I should ask Steam Support about this post.

Anyway the thread is going in every Off Topic direction and derail possible. Its mostly just arguments about Trump and Conspiracies. It completely distracted from being about the game mostly.

I'm a former conservative, back when being a conservative meant something other than violence, hatred, and war. Today's conservatives are far removed from the conservatives of my era, to the point where someone like me would be considered left-wing to them, all because I didn't sprint as hard as I could towards supporting fascism.
