What's your point?
These two differnt control schemes are as old as gaming itself. Are you new or something?
When I first played on a home console, though it was only pong and a few other similar games, there were JOYSTICKS. Later when I built my first computer, I used keyboard.
So what's the question here?
Are you saying that why would anyone on PC want a controller option? Because that's patently obvious - because they might WANT that and find it better.
Controllers just feel out of control.
Mouse and Keyboard it is for me.
Controller for everything else that properly supports it. Platformers, Western RPGs, JRPGs and random stuff like Slay the Spire.
However, I just created a new Steam controller config for Point & Clicks that seems to be working fine. So, I might switch to a controller when playing on my Raspberry Pi.
Both are great.
Some games are great with mouse keyboard, like 4X strategy games. Absolute ♥♥♥♥ with a controller, as there's no way to quickly replicate that many buttons easily.
On the other hand, racing games, absolute ♥♥♥♥ with a keyboard and mouse and better with a controller. Obvious a wheel is better still, but analogue joysticks top a digital keyboard any day.
Horses for courses.
Then there's plenty in the middle - games that work equally well either way. Games like Resident Evil, or any action style story based game.
Personally, I could never use a keyboard or mouse for racing obviously. But I use either depending on how I feel for most other games. Keyboard and mouse can be great for FPS accuracy, but if I'm having a bad day or recovering from my left arm not working properly, controller all the way.
He's asking mouse and keyboard or controller and wants to know why you prefer it or use it.
---------
Both just depends game if racing or flying games including 3rd/1stp space sims platformers I use controller I never was one to use kb/mouse on a racer to each their own. I don't even like wheels like some do on racers, just was never my thing. The why just like it better for those genre of games but I do have exception games I'm not gonna go into individual specifics.
For everything else unless I feel more comfortable with controller i use kb/mouse
As to purely why just what i'm used to using on these specific genres, for fps 3rdp shooters just quicker aim and better precision with kb/mouse. (even when i played fps/3rd p shooters on console i never used aim assists to cheaty in my opinion plus some times messes you up depending the shooter)
For 20 years i was console gamer then almost now 18 years a pc gamer so I've had equal time on mouse & kb as well has a controller.
It could mean anything.
Plus just to add there are tons of people who will be well aware that mouse and keyboard may be better for the game they play, but just wish to kick back and relax playing on their TV with a controller.
In fact, loads do this, which is why big picture mode exists. The second largest group of gamers is the 35-45 age group and there's a LOT of people in there that do this.
Think it's related more to figure of speech based on our countries or culture, also I think it is why you took what i said in that other thread in the way as if i was speaking for all my age and or older when i was only speaking from a first person view while using a figure of speech I hear all the time here in the ol usa from the old timers. Just how it is I guess.
