I used to buy the NHL games back in the day. I think the last one I bought was NHL 2001.
The problem is they were E.A. games and last I checked E.A. isn't doing all that well right now. They have bigger problems than making NHL games for PC.
This claim is completely unsupported. I’ve researched this topic thoroughly, and there is no credible source suggesting that the NHL doesn’t want the game on PC.
If you’re referring to EA’s own statements about the game not selling well due to a smaller market—that’s just another example of their history of poor business judgment. Let’s not forget SimCity, Dead Space, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Anthem, and even Dragon Age Veilguard. EA has made more than a few missteps when it comes to reading the market.
From what I’ve gathered, NHL on PC could realistically perform just as well as Madden, if not better. Hockey has significant popularity across Europe, where PC gaming is far more widespread than in North America. The demand is there.
That said, as I’ve mentioned before, this isn’t just about sales. EA needs content for its EA Play platform, and it makes no long-term sense to exclude their own sports titles from their subscription service. On top of that, the portable PC gaming market is growing rapidly, and EA needs to establish a foothold there sooner rather than later.
Yet, it is an exact copy paste of last years, as it has been since NHL 16.
