You haven't read up on the subject have you?
DEI is Diversity Equity and Inclusion. This is what SBI are preaching and not something we have come up with. This is theirs side acronym that they made. Gamers are just using it because it's more well known to people.
GamerGate won back in the day because we got gaming review sites to update their policies. They had to state if they where being paid by game companies or not. When that change was done, the movement was over and people went on with their lives. It was about Ethics in gaming journalism.
Mainstream Media though couldn't handle it and tried to revive Gamergate repeatedly over the years after it. With no success I might add. Even GamerGate2 didn't catch on.
Also after GamerGate majority of the gaming news sites started to do a lot worse. Some larger ones have been shut down.
I don't see how SBI are winning when a lot of those titles are bombing on the market. Companies are losing a few hundred millions on some of their titles.
I've been gaming since before the ESRB was even the flicker of a thought in anyone's head. It has never worked out in the favor of the people trying to fight against it. People wanted games like DOOM and Mortal Kombat just outright banned. That didn't happen. People wanted Grand Theft Auto banned, that didn't happen. In fact, it didn't happen so hard and so often that the person leading the charge was disbarred. That means he cannot practice law.
I watched this same song and dance during Gamergate and guess what, the people screaming about Gamergate lost. Zoe Quinn and Anita Sarkessian became widely known and people kept going to them because they were well known. Keep in mind that I don't like either of them. Never did, never will. But I don't dislike them because some nebulous person on the internet told me to dislike them, I dislike them because of how they act as people.
And while I don't like the director of SBI, I also know how much power he'd really have if people would stop falling into the very same trap that they fell into 10 years ago. The very same traps that keep making their opposition much more powerful. You and everyone in DEID and other woke content detectors keep giving them ammo, keep giving them fuel. Keep giving them renown and power.
Do you know what would really happen if none of this stink were to have been raised? It would've passed. Would've been a brief moment in gaming history and no one would care. SBI would be broke. But then again, it would had to have not started with films and TV... which made those people more powerful.
What I'm saying is... they're using y'all to make them more renowned, to make them more infamous and famous, because there is no such thing as bad publicity in the corporate world.
However, it's up to Devs to remain vigilant and just show the award baiters/spammers the door.
Yeah, they would just keep growing. They where able to talk to a lot of companies before they got known by gamers and by then the damage was done to those games that they affected.
This "Ignore it and it'll go away" is something that doesn't work anymore. SBI would love for all gamers too completely ignore them because then they could keep talking to companies, keep getting put on the teams and change the games the way they want. It's literally what they want.
Not all PR is good PR.
Hey you should try and find the Modern Audience. It's far far smaller.
There is also this where it's always a small crowd that actually engage in forums, comment sections or on groups. You can see this on Youtube with videos where they have several millions views but only a few thousand posts.
It's the same everywhere else.
But the actual support? That could be way larger by a crowd that doesn't say anything.
You can go ahead and pay people to keep you in a perpetual state of outrage, personally, I'd rather not.
also warframe is consistently one of the top most played f2p games on steam alongside apex legends which also has tons of LGBT representation and other "woke" things so...maybe most people actually don't care?
I don't usually quote Business Insider, but the fact that Microsoft sacked a load of DEI suggests that it does exist and that the fight back is having a profound effect.

People who can only think of numbers making strength vs. quality over quantity.
And you see these kinds of people everywhere, not just with political nonsense but also gaming aspects themselves.
I mean... if dozens of YouTube guides show you that you can use method 'A' to complete a task in a game then surely some random dude (or dudette) who suddenly says that 'A' is actually kinda inefficient and 'B' is just as good, arguably even more.... well, obviously these people don't know what they're talking about, eh? Because "everyone" does it like "A".
Some people (Tubers of course) might even use the "controversy" (if there is one) to ridicule the whole idea of B, for the sole reason that many people recognize 'A' and a bit of ridicule is bound to attract more attention to themselves. More attention = more likes & views = more ad views = more money.
More money for them of course, and here people are thinking that the Tubers are "fighting" the "right cause". Which is more than often (not always!) totally ridiculous.
People who look down and/or talk down to others for whatever reason... those are the real cause of problems.
Meanwhile... I'd rather ignore all of that garbage and instead focus on things that truly matter... Like how to increase my power production in my SatisFactory. Got myself a good source of iron, copper, limestone, coal, oil, bauxite and now I can even make myself plastics, fuel and aluminum.
Do I dare to take the next step and look into utilizing uranium? ;)
Can’t even begin to describe just how RARE that actually is.
Unlike the act of making games which apparently isn't free speech?
Free speech yes but nobody has to buy those games.
Customers can spend their money on what they want to buy.
