Release times changed?
Am I the only one that just noticed release times are now at 4PM PST rather than in the morning around 9AM PST? Why the random change?

Could be where you live or what country you live in. Release times on games in general are dependent on basically where you live in the world. For example, sometimes some countries get games earlier than other countries due to the time change difference. Like the international date line.

The US, it's always been 9AM PST so just curious why the random change

Certain developers may of set it at a different time depending on the game. They tell steam usually when to release their game in pre-load or fully. Not sure if this effects all games though. it is up to the developers of each games to do this though. Again, not sure if steam has a "default" time to have game developers to release games at.

Games are not automatically released on a timer. Someone has to press the button.

Game devs can set release times other than the default 10AM Pacific Time.

I know but it's been happening more recent with multiple games so it made me think it was a change with Steam itself

I just bought a new release yesterday at the "normal" time, so ... everything seems normal to me.

The new day start has not changed so any game released outside of the 10am PST/6pm GMT is the choice of the developer.
