Is the price of an early access game "generally" less then the price of the same game when it offically comes out?
just checking cuz that would obviously be extra incentive to buy early.

Its really depend on the game, some games i think even cost more in Early Access then after
But again depends on the game

The weird thing is the developers seem to set the prices for both early access then full release, there's no obligation to make the game cheaper during early access but it normally is in my experience.

It's hard to say. Few early access games I've watched have even gotten to full release. The one (and only one I ever will now) I was a part of was a LOT higher during early access than after release.

Some games scale in price through development and others have been known to drop. The likes of H1Z1 cost £14.99 on release but will be F2P when completed yet DayZ came in at £19.99 but has been bumped up to £22.99.

With early access games regardless of the price; only purchase if you are willing to support the product and can accept the state of the game at the time.

Kerbal Space Program: Price went Up
Galactic Civ 3: The price Went down.
Dead State: Pretty much stayed the same.

Game pricing will vary title to title based on the design philosophy. Personally I encourge the GalCiv model because it encourage people who should NOT be buying early access games to avoid them until completion.

Buying Early Access just because it's cheaper will only leave you disappointed. It is NOT complete game ready for general consumption usually. You will not enjoy it. So wait for it to be finished and eat the price, or wait until it's finished and goes on sale.

In the past, games in early access would be a LOT higher than when it was released. Some gamse are still like this. The reason for this is simple. You don't want people who will buy the game and then complain there are bugs. Either you support the developers and artists, or wait until it comes out. Other games will be cheaper because they want more people giving them feedback, more buyers/money, etc. Depends.

In my opinion, early access games are more expensive than normal ones because they are "testing" them

that doesnt make any sense.

They are generally cheaper but I dont understand how I am paying more than market because of testing

The early access titles that tend to start very high often had Kickstarter campaigns where early access was included in high value tiers, so dropping early access for much less than that would be doing them a disservice.

He was saying that, with a finished game, you get more bang for your buck. So in a sense, he is correct (depending on the game).

He's basically just saying that EA games aren't finished and have less content, are more buggy, and are generally worth less than a full release.

There is seldom any shift in price.

It depends on the devs but overall no.

I'm not sure, but I think EAG's added to Steam after a certain date have the "Will this software be priced differently during and after Early Access?" on the EAQ Q&A that's on the store page of EAG's, but it's a freeform answer so I don't know if anyone has done the legwork to track that.

Depends entirely. Some early access titles also include loot boxes, micro transactions, paid DLCs, paid gear / other stuff and so on.

I've seen both - some games become more expensive after EA, some less. It is entirely up to the dev/publisher
