does steam use discord?
so I got a random ass message from a person on discord saying that he and his friend's mass report spam me and to message steam support on discord for "the sake of my account" so I was wondering if it is a Scam or Not

Account Security Recommendations:

NEVER follow instructions to speak with someone claiming to represent Steam Support through Discord or any other chat system, even if they come from a friend's account.

There's no such thing as a false report that you as an account owner need to take steps to solve. This is a scam

That is a common scam method.
Just report them back and block.

If you get an email saying that you own the IRS $20k and a warrant is out for your arrest if you don't pay within a day, would you believe them?

It's fake. Grab a screenshot of the conversation and his account details and report him to Discord.

Follow the instructions here, it'll tell how to grab the post's id-number.

The link to their report function is on the very bottom of that page under "Reporting the issue". Steam's filter prevents me from writing it here - which is incredibly stupid.

Rule of thumb: if some stranger is official/trustworthy because some other strangers said, that's obvious ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

discord isn't doing much considering these scams and issues they have.
therefore I recommend, especially to people who are easily hacked, to not use discord.
If they feel a drop in users, they might change something.... might.

What should they change?
A messenger is not meant to be used to trust everything everyone says to you.

I don't think it would make a difference.
Say for example, Discord shuts down entirely tomorrow. People would just move to the next popular chatting service and the scams would continue there instead.

For one, the Content Deliver Network access should be made harder. They should also scan their files and remove extra content (meta data, etc.) from images. Perhaps even a system that fixes files so that they only render the image/video/etc.
They can also up the security around the login token. Its too easy to steal someone's token and use that to login, which should be impossible. The token should have a device id linked to it somehow and perhaps matching a second key, so that stealing, even if it happens that token is useless.
What they should also do is ask for a relogin when someone's IP changes. (when they switch vpn server for example). They should block vpn tunnels when someone makes an account as well and link the ip of that time to the account. (which can also help with account recovery, but its to see who uses bots and stuff).
Computers that primarily host websites should also be blocked from making accounts.
They can integrate a scan system that sees each image, and then detects steam support messages, and flags the account and conversation, so that it can be checked by a moderator even before anything is reported.
These are examples of changes that can be made to make scamming harder.

Edit: if all of that is too hard, they could at least show the URL of the image, video, file, etc. on the rendered file, so that people see where the link goes. (this should obviously not be overwritable with a html injection)
They could also integrate an automatic upload-to-virustotal link as an option for suspicous files. That shouldn't be too hard.
Scanning for specific phrases shouldn't be too hard to achieve either.(dictionary scan or a regex scan), to automatically put users on a potential scammer list.

What happens there then?
I read here that people contact people and tell them random things and tell them to talk with another random person.
Its based on trusting strangers.

You described something else.

If the name of the support is even steam support,
i wonder why someone would ask if valve uses discord?

And maybe they use it.

Steam surely does not use discord. As well as steam support does not use it.
