It seems strange to attack him for this rather than speaking out against the fact that people are being rude to him and writing homophobic remarks on his profile.
Let me be clear here. I do NOT, in any way, condone hateful remarks against another person based on who they are or what they like. However, he does bring this on himself by using the handle "Gay Muslim". Nobody needs to know your skin color, your sexual orientation, your religion, your politics, your relationship status, or your favorite sports team in order to happily play a game with you. That's stuff you bring up and talk about later to the gamers you're actually becoming friends with, in order to see what more you have in common with each other besides the game you're playing together.
Steam doesn't ALLOW homophobia. What he's wanting them to do is PREVENT it. That's not reality. Yes, he can write what he wants for his name. But he needs to be an adult and understand that there are consequences for using such a controversial name.
Also, go look at the comments on his Profile. He has the power to delete the bad ones, but he doesn't. If they bother him so much, why does he leave them there? And why does he engage with those who write the bad things instead of just ignoring them and deleting the comments? I'll tell you why. Because he wants the attention. He wants to play the victim. He's a Drama Queen, and he's trolling everybody.
This also includes redicule or trying to damage someone's reputation / poisoning the well basically.
Those forms of homophobia are not allowed as such;
However people are still allowed to be afraid of gay people (for whatever reason) and the subject can be discussed (as an off topic subject in places that allow it). It doesn't nessecarily mean the people discussing it are showing aggression or violent hatred or discriminate. -- homophobia covers more than just that.
Steam cannot prevent content from appearing, but they can remove it later on and if nessecary punish the author or spreader of said content. In case you wonder what Steam does or does not allow exactly, please read the rules.
Let me ask you, are you sure?
Because in order to spread the fear of gay people, they have to trick people into fearing gay people somehow.
Perhaps you're intepreting it as homophobia spreading?
Discussing your sexuality and others sexuality on Steam is highly off topic.
Each individual game's discussion hub is there for people to discuss the game itself, its themes, bugs and related subjects. It is not a place to discuss your personal sexuality. People may indeed get mad about it and moderators may issue a warning when you post such off topic content there.
This forum hub specifically is supposed to be about the Steam platform, not about you. Although it is fine to make subject threads about you and your sexuality within the Off Topic board-- you're trying to talk about your own situation I assume there.
and people will disagree with your ways or your views. That too is not homophobia- they just see things differently.
I have not read these threads, so perhaps I am wrong, but you should know when you publish something people will disagree with it and some may take it personal for whatever reason. Some people easily become emotional and almost seem to identify with their points, rather than just seeing it as a possibility; there may be some exaggerated reactions coming from those. However, I do not think they mean harm to a population, nor spread fear, at least-- that would be exceptional on Steam is what I think.
Your request honestly comes across as a little racist.
Little advice,.. when looking for gamers. Don't specify things like sex, orientation, race, or religion.
If you do you are naturally gonna catch some backlash.
More acceptable qualifiers, are 'Age, Nationality, and Broad geographic region.
The real problemis theat 'hate speech' is so nebuloyus and broad. Threats and hateful slurs, to simply not agreeing or not affirming' is consider hatespeech.
What...?
