Why are developers "manning up" female game characters ?.
It's happening more and more in games where we see developers hire a beautiful woman
to play their ingame female protagonist or overall character... and they end up changing
the face of the ingame female so much they look more like a man with female characteristics than they look like the actual actress they hires for the job.

Now take a look at the games Star Wars the Fallen Order where the actor hired to play
the character Cal Kestis , he looks SPOT ON ... literally cloned into the game .

Why can't game developers simply just let beautiful women stay beautiful in games
and stop changing them into female russian wresters .

or if her face in ANY WAY was used to make the face of Kay Vess.
then it's utter BS that they went and changed her face from a beautiful woman,
into something horrible looking.. with Ben affleck's cheek.

Just look at the face of the actress, her facial structure is nothing like Kay Vess's is.

Then she is a voice actress only and getting paid to do so.

The character is just that, a character and the looks of the voice actress has nothing to do with what the character looks like.

I see no problem here at all.

I've seen ugly woman with beautiful voices and I have seen beautiful woman with horrible voices. The voice has nothing to do with it.

Lets be hone here, in your case, you just don't like the character they made. It really has nothing to do with the voice actress at all. If you have that much of an issue with the character, then don't buy the game OR wait for a mod to swap her out (and save money in the process). Simple solution for a simple problem of opinion.

So use someone as a base who actually looks the way they want.

Doesn't work like that. Watch people's mouths when they talk. Even if they use the same words, their faces do so in a different way. It would be obvious that the voice isn't coming from those expressions and facial muscles.
1) Lip reading is a thing that people can do. The formation of words isn't so unique from one individual to another.

2) You have your rigging for the character's movement and facial expressions. You can map that onto any character no matter how different they look from the person who did the recording.

3) I have played plenty of games where the characters mouths don't even move when they speak and never thought it detracted from the game. Something that is realistic but made unnatural stands out far more than something consistently unrealistic.

At that point, may as well make the character model from scratch as it would end up looking the same.
Yes, I find this preferable. The end result would fit the art style of the graphics better than trying to cram a somewhat real person into it.

Still want to know what game that is linked in the OP, and what the other characters in it look like. (i.e, that face looks odd, no matter if it's male or female, do all of them look like that; i.e, does the game have an intentionally strange style?)

I also have serious doubts about the "all male characters that are modeled after their male voice actors are perfect!" claim.

.

She was hired to do the same job as Cameron Monahgan . Then take a look at how
Cal Kastis ended up looking, then compare Humberly González with how Kay Vess looks.

Just another trend. Just like the "Torpedo Boobs" trend in female characters in mid to late 90's. Or the overly bouncy boobs thing from the mid-90's to...well that's still ongoing.

Though inall fairness it's not a really big trend.. just in a very small space of the VG industry.
How to tell that an OP has never encountered real woman in one easy step

And if all the games had the same voice actor, and the same character model, what would happen? Who owns the rights at that point?

Doesn't matter if game A did this and game B did that. The point is that you are simply using the excuse of the "voice actor" to push your personal dislike of the character.

By the way, OP, the reason the two pictures look very different is that the woman in real life has a completely different facial expression, haircut, and lighting to the character in the game. Not because the fictional character is secretly a man or some other conspiracy theory like that.

I thankfully never quite liked youtube and don't have the patience to watch streamers and youtube personalities. If you get out of that bubble of ragebaiting you notice how little all of that matters in reality. These people don't know up to which extent they're spoiling themselves their own fun for the sake of making a few youtubers a bit more rich.

The male is spot on there, really?

they mess up when importing real faces as game texture? no, your just coomers.

People seem to forget that mocap with full facial cameras doesn't actually mean the character will look the same. It can alos mainly be used for the facial expressions and the like.
