AAA sucks, AA are the future
Spent $80 on Dragon's Dogma 2, and it was a complete and utter disappointment. Performance issues. Terrible DRM making performance even worse. Microtransactions on day 1. Over a month without a fix. Game launched without even having a "new game" option once you started a character for the first time. Terrible, unfinished story, etc.

Spent like $20 on Evil West. Game is a ton of fun. Story is entertaining. Gameplay is top notch and feels straight out of the PS2 era. It doesn't have a bunch of microtransactions. Doesn't have a battle pass. Etc. Just same sort of fun I had playing action games during the PS2 era.

AAA games are a joke now, and AA titles what deserve the attention of real gamers.

Any AA games that have surprised you lately?

You know that people have been saying that for 10 years or something, right?

Saying what? That AAA games are a joke?

Yes that's the point. But they haven't been saying it as all or nothing. It's ben a sliding scale as I clearly said. It's got WORSE over time, and we warned them clearly.

Triple A games have sucked for many years and they have been slowly getting worse. I've avoided them more and more.

Said it many times, but as I've been around since the beginning of gaming, I quickly learned how to be more diligent in buying (as we only had boxshots and magazines really to go on). I always wait until a while after release before buying, so reviews tell me what I need to know, no gambling involved.

I'm also someone who buys as many platforms as I want the games thereon. This is why I keep about 70 platforms working at any given time (there's always more but they need attention as some break down or need a kick).

And I've always bought most major consoles and computers. Yet this generation I've only bought a Switch because of how bad the triple A space has become. I tend to work on the metric of when there's about 6 exclsive games for a platform, I'll buy it. But of the Xbox and PS5 there aren't anywhere near that number of games I really want.

It's piss poor frankly.

Back on the PS2 I bought over 500 games for that and I still play a lot of them. On the PS3 that had a slow start but I also bought over 300 games too. On the PS4 I started noticing less of them. I still have several hundred games, but many are digital indie, and there's only about 50 boxed triple A games.

Thje triple A space has truly painted itself in a ocrner over the years and didn't listen. They were told many times that their relentless pursuit of realism at stupid costs and other trend chasing is going to bite them in the arse, and they simply didn't listen.

Back when WOW became a gangbuster around 2005, every triple A publisher desperately and greedily wanted for EVERYTHING to be a the next big MMO. Not realising that even if focus testing was positive people would simply go back to playing MMO. There can be only one and all that.

Then everyone wanted to copy COD. And the same happened.

They NEVER learn because the idiots at the top don't understand people or anything really.
During the PS2 Era: I bought them all. I has a PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, and I was late to the party on it, but I even bought a Dreamcast.

During the next era, I bought a PS3 sold it, bought a 360, then bought another PS3.

This last one, I only had a PS4 for the longest time. Finally, picked up a switch near the end.

As for the current gen, I have no interest in any of the Consoles. I just upgraded my PC and bought an OLED Steam Deck instead.
I already post this in another thread...

I'm not going to buy any game over $20. No AAA titles. No games from studios that can't fund development from their own sales. If there is something I want that has been excluded it goes into a wish list until I see it on sale for 80% off.

Everything about the modern gaming industry DRM, micro-transactions, multiple editions) needs to die. There was a video game crash in 1983. Bring on another.

It's like people forgot Capcom and the 360/PS3/GFWL era. Apart from RE, MH and 3DS re-releases, everything else has been trash.

You can tell it went downhill after DMC5 SE was locked to conslows.

I am using a i5-13400F, 2 TB M2 Drive, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 16GB VRAM 4060 Ti on a 165Hz 1080p G Sync monitor. My system is fine.

DD2 just runs like crap on every system, including 4090s, because it is optimized like crap. It swaps between hard CPU bottlenecks and hard GPU bottlesnecks and back again, and none of the settings help. Several reputable sources already reported on this, and Capcom even put out an apology about it. (It runs like crap on consoles too).

Plus, you had the whole fiasco with Cyberpunk when it first released.

I don't even own that game, so you can't blame my system for that one.

the person made no mention of pc hardware.

buying a game here on steam or somewhere else, has zero to do with the game running like crap, because of horrible optimization.

"skill issue" also has nothing to do with the topic.

that being said, thats some weak bait.

For real people who have huge perf issue do not know how to tweak a computer and it show

I get game can have performance issue but 90 % of the time with tweak in game or in your computer you can repair everything.
