How do people put over 300+ hrs into games?
I honestly dont get how people put hundreds to thousands of hrs into the most boring games that just are repetitive slop. The most I have on any game is close to 300 hrs.

Short session, high replayability games that you return to repeatedly for years, rather than playing once straight through then never revisiting them (pinball, SHMUPs, etc. - people racked up hundreds of hours trying to master arcade games back in the day too, and this is no different, owing to the very nature of these games.)

High replayability roleplaying elements (lots of different chars/builds, tens of hours spent with each.)

High replayability narrative branching (different playthroughs, making different choices, tens of hours spent with each.)

High replay value strategy games (with some individual games lasting 20+ hours.)

Habitual social multiplayer gaming (people having regular online get-togethers for weeks, months, or years on end, even if only a few hours long at most per session.)

Hardcore competitive play in fighting games and shooters (reaching skill ceilings and mastery can take a long, long time for those players who are invested in them.)

Games with large user-creation suites (e.g. pro wrestling games with CAW suites, Sims games, games with level & scenario editors, etc.)

Space combat & trading sims (it can take hours - or more - to get from one location to another.)

Idle games (by definition, a lot of time passes in these games.)

Completionism.

Achievement farming.

And plenty of other reasons people may have.

daily habit with friends, you’ve probably spent a lot of time doing something i have not
Me who probably lost like 5k hours of my life to WoW: ....
There's 8760 hours in one year
300 hours is 12.5 days
There's 365 days in one year

In basic terms, 300 hours is literally nothing if you enjoy a game, 2 hours a day would only require 150 days to meet 300 hours, hell playing a game longer on weekends or with others will also equal up more time.

300 is nothing, i have ones with 1000's, i see no reason in buying games if im not going to put hours into them, that would be a waste of money.

i dont buy tons of games either, but i still have a backlog lol.

Over 10,000 hours in the original Guild Wars, and I still haven't finished everything in the game.

The longest I've played a game is 258 hrs, nothing I have even comes close. Most games are not that enjoyable or the community/competition ruins it tbh

Most games don't have much replay value and I look at 100% games as a waste of my time. Most game in my library haven't even been touched and probably won't be. Gaming just feels like a waste of money anymore because there's nothing to keep me interested, and i just keep adding games to the never gonna finish pile. I just can't fathom wasting 300+ hrs on one game

The key is knowing what may seem boring to you isn't boring to others.

I have 1200+ hours in Fallout 4 and the only thing keeping me from having more is the next gen upgrade. I'd prefer to wait and see if they actually fix downtown Boston for those of us who don't have computers that can run just about anything.

I'm playing Star Ocean: The Last Hope right now. It is a minimum of 400-450 hours to get all the Battle Trophies alone. That game forces you to play mega hours if you really want everything in it.

I also pulled a 24 hour gaming session to get an achievement in Wild Arms 5. For me it really helps if it is a MMO (which I quit playing years ago but had tons of hours into) or a RPG ... although in fairness I put a ton of time into GTA 3 just driving around wreaking havoc.

Well heres the sad part, everything has become boring to me and I just seem to hate all games. I got nobody to play with and most games just suck anymore.
