Steam now covering the task bar?
Why does it need to do this.. If i full screen steam it completely covers my taskbar?? is it a bug or by design.

If so stop it..

Is it exactly covering it, or is the taskbar sliding down?

Isn't fullscreen-stuff supposed to cover the taskbar?

Like when I open a video player, moving the cursor down to the bottom of the screen won't show the taskbar but the videoplayer controls...

I have never seen this, too. If you mean while playing a game in full screen.

No as soon as i loaded up steam i notice my taskbar on the desktop was just gone? I assumed it was a new steam feature or a bug..

I have only had that happen when I run a video, in a game's store page, on Steam in full screen, then close the video.

My guess would be a bug. Even the button to make it windowed or full in the upper right don't fix it. I have to drag the top of the window down a bit to finally get it back to a normal window.

Haven't notice it happening under other circumstances as of yet.

Sounds like Valve got something messed up in how their internal browsing context is set up again. They're using a top-level browsing context that's rendering the (not) 'native' outer shell of the Steam client UI (what in a browser is commonly referred to as the 'chrome' - i.e. the trimmings) and are using a nested browsing context inside of that.

And they get aspects of it wrong.
With unerring consistency, they get it wrong.

What's happening here is probably just the next iteration of the class of problems like the back/forwards navigation sometimes breaking, except perhaps somewhat more reproducible.

The video is triggering the top-level browsing context to enter full screen mode, but then when you exit the video it doesn't release full screen mode properly. It only releases it inside the nested context - not the outer one.

So the Steam client itself remains in full screen mode.

PocketYoda, I can confirm is also happens on my end from time to time. And I don't even change Steam resolution. When the taskbar disappears, I have to press minimize/maximize, of course. But not before that.

That is how my taskbar works when I open anything on my desktop. I just have to move my cursor to the bottom of the screen for the taskbar to appear again.

My taskbar's now covered too. Really annoying.

This is an annoying issue. It seems to happen after you watch a game store page video (in full screen). When you exit out of the video, the task bar at the bottom is covered.
