Why scam bots are adding me?
I literally have nothing on this account, not selling or buying anything either, yet even here those bots sending invites.

You have counterstrike and team fortress.
Maybe they're trying to steal your hats. lol

I dunno. it's not like they specifically target people, they just randomly spam everyone until someone will bite.

Scammers, like spammers don't choose their targets.

They cast a vast net at a large segment of people and hope for someone to take the bait.

They're not adding you specifically. They're adding everyone.

Unless it is someone you know, just ignore/block the invite.

Not me, for some reason. I haven't had an invite in ages.

So yeah, I'm guessing that playing Valve games might be a condition to be counted as a potential victim.

There's certain factors that put you in higher risk. Like having a public inventory, belonging to large trading/giveaway groups or actively playing games dropping items.

Still is the same as scammers don't target you specifically. They target whole groups you happen to be a part of.

Make phone calls asking for a Mr Mike Hunt till one answers. This is how most scams work. They try until they find one who answers the phone.

Dont answer the phone and you wont have problems.

Sorry, there's no Michael Hunt here. Do you want to talk to Hugh Janus?

Could simply be the group you are in - scammers can mass ♥♥♥ invites and using group API listings is an easy way to target thousands of users in one swoop. If only 1 in 10,000 users is worth targeting and complaint, it's an easy job done.

The bots sending invites? No they aren't. They're the same that clogged people's notifications with hundreds and hundreds of requests until Valve put limits.

They're sending invites to everyone they can.
