fake achievements
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1586220/eventcomments/4340977379959949127
The game is to click the left mouse button 11 times.
It had 5 achievements and now it has 41.
Play 100 hours in this one.
Also in the post at the link above the developer writes that getting some achievements is impossible.
Doesn't that violate the STEAM rule

No, it's not against Steam rules.
The game Where The Water Tastes Like Wine has 1 intentionally unobtainable achievement that the dev put in as a "philosophical message". There was a ton of drama over it when it was found out that it was intentionally unobtainable (the only way someone can unlock it is by using SAM).
It's been there for years, lots of people complained to Steam Support about it and were told there is no rule against devs adding impossible achievements.

But to be honest, for the game you are pointing toward, it seems like the dev is either very inexperienced in setting up achievements or is simply a troll.

One of the most well known games on Steam, Stanly Parable has an achievement that is, by all typical means, impossible to get and its called "Impossible to get" so no its not
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I think the only time Valve acted on achievement shenenigans was when a developer either outright sold the achievements or allowed you to "customize" one of the thousands of spam achievements for some money. Don't quite remember which of the two happened. Maybe even both.
But even that was likely because they didn't use Steam's in-app API for this. ^^

And it's not like they can enforce rules without getting caught up in them themselves. CS:GO, L4D2, and TF2 have (had) quite a number of troublesome achievements.

Personally I think at least those "play game for far longer than you would normally play it" type of achievements should be acted upon, as they mess with the engagement calculations. But I guess the hardcore achievement hunters actually going for this are too few to have a real impact.

There's one for Company of Heroes 2 that is impossible to now get and was only ever obtainable for a short time which was the Make War, Not Love event for the game, the first event after launch and a follow up achievement that required you partake in at least a match, win or lose either way, to get.

I did get both and as far as it goes, the first one is held by 2% of owners..the second one, which displays how hard people work for them I guess, is 0.8%

Since the profile functions are limited in this game, it doesn't matter anyway.

I'm sure this is going to trigger the very small minority who believe that achievements are actually worth anything and I love it TBH.

Console players don't have "better stuff".

They also have less users per console.

-Also better hand controls.

-no drm like PC.

-You don't need to install "steam coomon redistributables" every week.

- your work files / real life stuff is separated (when anti cheat can scan your entire system) on PC.
