Hi everybody

I understand that every case is unique and can get a permban already at first time for bad misbehaviour. However I would like to know the DEFAULT Escalation Plan as I noticed them many times in multiple forums.

It usually begins like that:

1. 1 day
   
2. 3 days
   
3. 1 week
   
4. 1 months

What are the next durations?
When will it finally be a permban (approximately)?
Is there any public info about that topic?

Depends.

Game hub that are moderated by game devs or moderators they choose, they can do ban escalations "decently."

Usually 1 year after a month or permanently banned.

Steam Support doesn't really issue perma bans, at least from what I've noticed the past few years.

So after 1 month it's already 1 year or the permban.

Could be, sure. A good moderator will also see how long since the last ban, it's severity and weigh that against their options.

There was a script someone had, that allowed more options as well. I never used it, but some of the the other global volunteers did. It allowed for 6 months, one year and likely others. Was a plug-in for the browser. I think it was made by one of the volunteers as well and used with Valve's permission.

I doubt the paid moderators use it. They may have more options too, as they use Valve's tools and not the moderator specific ones.

How did you become a Steam volunteer moderator?

I just helped in the community and one day they asked. Didn't expect it and wasn't looking for it, but seemed a good way to better help others.

They shut down the Global Volunteer Moderator program several years ago though. Several members had stopped moderating and there were fewer of us. No one at Valve likely wanted to continue to support volunteer moderation and it didn't seem to scale well, so they had a 3rd party moderate next to us and get things set up to go full paid moderation.

Windows has a built in "Snip" tool you can use to get screenshots of specific things as well as the screen.

im on my 8th or 9th 3 day wrist slap false ban. ill wait.

this last ban the op asked about loot drop rates.

the problem in question that steam support ignores for the 8th or 9th time creid fake news/misinformation and didnt even reply to the op about loot drop rates.

the ban was me telling a 4th user that the problem user will keep doing it until he finally starts getting banned for it. there are like 3 or 4 rules the problem user broke that arent stretching nearly as far as they have to strech and twist and bend over to issue an 8th or 9th 3 day wrist slap from this morons false flagging. the funniest part is they gave me a ban for his actions lmao. the ban reason stated is exactly what this guy keeps doing.

i can assure you they are saying they are being kind or some excuse the reality is they arent doing their job and they are sheding dozens of users who see it to sheild one problematic user.

Only an admin would see such a screen.

Interesting that "permanent" is the very first and "dont ban only delete post" is the last to select. IMO it should be the other way round.

I think those who run a group can also see such a screen. They get tools similar to what game hub moderators have.

Just checked. The same screen appears for group moderators as well.

Unfortunately they don't really adhere to this model, or it's more at the moderator's whim than a rigid structure/guideline. As evident of a number of bad actors who come back after 1-2 days, after months of routine bans/poor behavior.
