craft badges, that is the fastest way to level up. level doesnt mean much, so you should decide how high you want to go.

As Wolf said: badges and keeping an eye out for events. I seriously doubt we'll ever get so lucky as with the GPX event a few years back but they do sometimes allow us to buy into XP drops which can get you a few levels as well.

(in case you're wondering: the GPX event I was referring to happened 2 - 3 years ago and it allowed us to gain a heck of a lot of XP. I dunno all the details from mind but I think the issue is that they never capped it (as they do now: 20 purchase levels or so) therefor some people got insane level boosts. It was a good time to be a Steamer if you cared about those things (I had the luck that I picked that discount period to buy a lot of cool games)).

These days they cap it but.. who knows what other crazy things they'll come up with next? Always check events too if you care for these things.

Also it's optional, I just craft/buy/earn badges for fun.

you can craft badges by earning trading cards in games you own (you can just idle). one badge = one level, and you can also purchase badges in the points shop and get a badge themed around that season.
