Prologues often are sort of demos, but not always actual demos. They tend to showcase mechanics and features, but still are a separate product. Most prologues I played were side stories or prequels of the actual games that showed some mechanics.
I prefer it actually.
Time on Frog Island prologue was actually much more enjoyable than the main game for me.
But oh well. It's not that much in the way.
i agree the second i see ''prologue'' it has the oppisite affect and makes me not wanna touch their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ indy project. they know they can add a demo button/prologue to the main games page but they dont because they know they can get more eyes on their game by flooding the free games tab.
screw any company that does this
Naming a Demo something else, is not making it a better version of it.
Would really like to have a setting to disable these kinds of games.
It's another way to try to hook you ... nothing more. Well, unless they are charging money for them ... then you know the real reason they are doing it.
Always follow the money first. That is the most likely reason you see something happening.
Is ignoring things you don't like really all that hard? See if those can be blocked, too.
It would be cheaper for them to put the Prologue into the Demo slot of their game listing. They're paying for two separate listings for the exact same game doing it as they are.
...The only thing I can think of is they're trying to pad out their "Dev rep" via having two positive review scores instead of one.
A demo doesn't necessarily have any narrative connection.
If you were to liken it to anything it's like the old shareware of old.
