Anyone know a tank/vehicle focused game that's actually fun?

World of Tanks - Glorified cover shooter with tank controls, not fun

Warthunder - 1-shot from across the map simulator, not fun

I'd like a game where tanks can at least take a bloody hit, but not need to hide behind cover. A tank should not hide behind cover, it makes other stuff hide from it. Sadly I've tried several games but they typically end up making the same mistake as warthunder: Getting killed instantly by something 5 miles away.
