Turn off pop-ups
I'm sick of Steam layering pop-ups under pop-ups every time I launch a game. I have turned off all notifications and store updates. Anything that can be turned off is turned off. Why am I still subject to pop-up ads that pissed people off so much they went of style 15 years ago (and may be illegal under Canada and European anti-spam laws if they can't be fully disabled)?

Do you mean the news pop-up when starting Steam? Those can be turned off, though I have read they sometimes can be buggy when launching games directly from game shortcuts.

What popups are you talking about?
The only kind of advertisement Steam has is on Steam client launch and can be disabled in the settings. There is no such thing when launching game.

Sounds more like your computer is infested with malware.

I have turned off Steam - settings - notifications. All news and Steam ads off. Still getting them.


The pop-ups I'm talking about are Steam ads.

Not malware.

Unless Steam infested my computer with Malware!

- screenshots of your settings (with account data removed for your protection)
- screenshots of your popups

Also, it's Interface - Notify me about additions or changes... rather far down that page.

Steam > Settings > Interface > Notify me about additions or changes...

Make sure that is turned off as Pscht suggested.

That is the ONLY pop-up I have ever encountered on Steam.
