I never used Facebook, maybe you could have picked a better example than the world's worst web-spyware to mankind.
I can only think of 4 sites that got flak for being redesigned, and in each case, the redesign actively made the website worse.
And those are 3 sites I know had a redesign, but nobody bat an eye because the redesign was fine.
To me that tells me people aren't scared of change for the sake of change, they are scared that something changes for the worst. The same problem can be observed with Windows; it is a slippery slope: Windows 7 had some telemetry which made XP users unwilling to use it, then windows 8 had an awful UI, then windows 10 reverts back to the previous UI, but has even more telemetry that is more invasive making 7 users unwilling to use it, then we got windows 11 which in practise requires a Microsoft account in order to be used, has a worse UI, and has all the problem windows 10 had.
By the time we get to Windows 18, Microsoft will probably ask you pay a subscription to use your computer, otherwise it activates a Microsoft-approved ransomware. [/quote]
Yes but you asserted that - where's your evidence it has more spyware?
That's the point - assertions aren't evidence.
You never addressed the issue about WGA being on Windows 7 from the start.
The only thing you said was that WGA was not on Windows 7 until a later service pack. Except, it was shown to be in there at release since disabling it was how people avoided authentication.
So which is it? Was it there on release or was it added later?
It isn't random. It was literally brought up in this thread.
Thank you for proving everyone's claims about false information.
Hey, all that was asked was to admit there was a mistake made and that WGA was in Windows 7 from the start.
That's it.
I guess it's a good thing the thread is available for everyone to see since it will help clear up any misinformation.
Even if you reported anyone here, they'd just see it like an abuse. From you. They are not breaking the rules by replying to you. No insults are made, no rudeness, nothing. You made it a case of victimisation and I am confused as to why. Just enjoy the discussion.
Apparently, my comments from the last hour are being gathered to send a manual report in for stalking.
I was also told I wouldn't be responded to or seen again earlier.
You quoted the wrong comment.
Additionally, most people don't have the know-how nor the time to figure this out. As a result, they more than likely sign up for a Microsoft account to use the product they bought as soon as possible.
Hence; in practise, a Microsoft account is mandatory in order to use Windows 11. This will be to most people, not you nor me, but to most people, yes absolutely.
Your method to go around the forced online connectivity involves an unintended exploit that can be patched at any time. Still, even if I get this exploit running and it works as expected, what are the odds most people know about it? I didn't know until you told me about it, and I knew disabling internet access would somehow remove the sign-up/login to Microsoft nonsense. With that, you're only giving me more reasons to call Windows 11 invasive and actively hate it.
Lastly, turning an "online account" into a "local account" does not remove any data Microsoft has gotten from you for making the online account in the first place. Possibly, the account is still out there and you may still be able to log into it for all we know.
Since the start of the discussion, and previous discussions before now, the crux of my argument was that it's always hard mode to de-clutter Windows 10 and 11 from all the spywares and bloatwares/trash, and I don't believe this is making a good point when this solution is dependent on either...
A. Something only possible on specific versions of Windows.
B. Something that can be achieved regardless by abusing a bug, regedit or an exploit.
I haven't read the article yet, however I'll take a guess and say it has something to do with Group Policy, did I get that right?
Nonetheless, a third-party script or program is far better with far less hassle involved than this. And to say all it took to not be spied on by Microsoft under 7 was to disable some options, disable a few services and avoid certain upgrades, and if you really were hardcore about this, you would never send any crash report to Microsoft.
I have already explained elsewhere why that is not a problem. You choose what you wanna share on Steam, Valve doesn't keep tabs on you while you're doing something else. If you wanna tell everyone on the forums what's your full name, then that's your prerogative. Heck, the one thing Steam does on your behalf that can be considered telemetry (scanning your hardware), that can disabled and I think it is opt-in to begin with.
Valve has a long data retention sure, but that is not a problem - data retention may be part of the problem, but not the problem in-of-itself. The problem is how the data is collected i.e: Windows 11 is sending pings, packets, etc to Microsoft via their servers and via servers owned by who knows constantly, and then they can build shadow profiles to get an idea of who you are for targeted advertising, which is a lucrative business strategy. It is so lucrative in fact that the upgrades to Windows 10 and I assume 11 are free, meanwhile previous OSes required another payment.
Comparing Steam to Windows 11 is like comparing night and day.
I'm apparently on your side, but also I'm saying this with the utmost politeness, please stop arguing. I'm not sure you actually know what you're talking about and you've been getting increasingly more emotional over this. All you're achieving here is humiliating yourself in front of many people.
So, just take a break, ok?
Before the edit, you had the comment linked to me when it wasn't. That's what I was referring to.
But you corrected it so it links to the proper post now.
Also if mod saw THIS, now they would see this as rude and insulting. For one, "stupid crap" is rude. And next. "You are the worst person ever" IS rude. Just block them if you must.
Funny thing is, I was just trying to tell him the quote was the wrong person. If others came and saw it, they would have probably pointed it out as well.
