Overclocking may increase speed, but it doesn't give an out dated CPU a new instruction set that may be required to run a those games. Only way to do that would be to get a new CPU, but depending on your current CPU, it may involve a lot more upgrades just to do that.
You already know the answer to the question.
Minimum Specs are Minimum Specs - if you meet the specs - you SHOULD be able to play the game.
Keep in mind however that minimum doesn't mean "best"
Support won't answer these questions because its not their job.
The Publisher/Dev of the game is best suited to that - I suggest the game hub for said game.
Well if you want a good answer, you need to provide detailed information. As is the answer is a definite maybe.
Game, specs, upgrade are all thing you need to be specific about if you want more than a wild guess.
And "run the game" does not mean at all Ultra settings at 60 fps or above- it may mean all Low settings, with or without tweaks, at 15-20 fps (because the game is "technically" running, even though it's a slide show).
You need to give us your full system specs including OS, and tell us which game.
There are newer games I would like to play but dont meet the min.
I cant afford a new computer and was hoping for a workaround.
I'll keep playing the old games, better than nothing.
Thanks again.
Can't really workaround Hardware.
Depending on your budget - honestly you may want to look into a Steamdeck - cheaper than a new PC and capable of quite a bit - in-spite of some challenges.
But without knowing what you have to work with - we can't really help you.
Its old, so am I now.
I've read all the posts
The answer is clear (to me anyways).
Thanks all for the help.
You still not posted what you got to work with.
You may find you won't need to spend that much.
No new parts fits that old of a motherboard
Need everything new.
Its not upgradeable (other than video card)
- Intel Core I5 Gen 12 or above / AMD Ryzen 5 5xxx Series or above for CPU (Ryzen 7xxx Series if it's notebook CPU)
- Nvidia Geforce RTX3060/4060 for GPU (Both PC and Laptop)
* I'm not Nvidia fanboy but I don't have enough knowledge and personal experiences in AMD/Intel GPU to give an advice *
- 16GB Ram and some good Nvme Gen 4 SSD for storage
Should be enough for to play with at least Medium Graphic Settings with standard 1920x1080 resolution for all games released now
(Maybe on low settings for some demanding games and newer games in near future, but you can still run it smoothly)
