Why do you only get discount coupons for ♥♥♥♥ games?
Been doing badges since 2016 and the only time i actually got something good was Half Life 2 discount coupon at -90%. Other than that, every other time i got coupons for some amateur 2D games and Anime crap

Coupons are for girls.

I agree, but sadly there is no option to disable them when you level up

I think the coupons are directed at that audience which is why they are mostly puzzle games. There are so many things they add that are just kind of forgotten about.
crunchyfrog Nov 28, 2023 @ 7:12pm
Simple - because of the reason that the only people who generate or agree to these coupons are the IP holders.

So of course you're going to get the bottom of the barrel stuff.

Valve CANNOT decide to do this themselves, the same way they don't set prices for IPs they don't own.

Craft badges on December 14th after 10AM Pacific Time. That's when the Winter sale Mysterious cards will start dropping instead of coupons.

Do this before/during Summer and Winter sales.

Because participating in the discount coupon program, like everything else on Steam, is entirely voluntary for developers and publishers and only bottom of the barrel developers and publishers are willing to participate.

If you're not interested in the coupons, you can craft your badges during Steam Summer and Winter sales to get Summer or Winter sale trading cards to sell or to craft sale badges.

Do you know that for a fact though? Wouldn't we see tons of coupons to ridiculous games if that were truly the case?

Yes, because copyright and ownership laws.

The asme reason as you cannot set prices for thigns you don't own.

Imagine if you owned a product you'd created and you agreed terms with a chain of stores to sell them. After waiting for the first cheque to come in at the end of the month you get the figures and you find it's 50% short.

On asking why they said they decided, without asking you, to reduce the price. You don't mind do you? Of course you do, because they don't the IP they can't do that.

So why could they offer discounts for the games without anyone who owns it's say so?

I have to agree they are bottom of the barrel tier games at best.. I've never seen a coupon for a good game lol..

Devs know they have a champion game when Steam offer coupons for your game haha

Now that I think about it, I've crafted like 20 badges to level 5 levels and I don't remember ever getting a coupon for a game that had more than a couple hundred reviews. Most of them were either mixed or negative as well.

Any actual good game would never need to offer coupons anyway because they know people will buy their stuff regardless.

Except that devs choose themselves whether there are coupons for their games.

Coupons are op int for game devs. Obviously game devs/publishers of good games won't opt into that part of Steam.

How do I opt-in to giving out Community Coupons?
From the navigation above, select 'Apps & Packages', find your game and click on the 'App Admin' link, then under the 'Community' tab select the 'General' sub-menu. At the bottom of that page is a checkbox to opt-in to the program.

How do I opt-out of the Community Coupon program once I've enabled it?
You can opt in or out of the program at any time. Like above, just uncheck the Community Coupon program checkbox on the admin page for your game, and publish the change.
