You've been here long enough to know that the first couple hours of a sales event AND the last few hours will always be hammered with people trying to do crap, slowing everything down.
Then you need to program a better store that can handle it. Just said so yourself, this has happened for ages. Learn.
If you stump your toe walking to the store every tuesday, you fix the hump causing the stump. Don't be a chump.
You don't spend an outrageous amount of money for server capacity just for a few hours, 4x a year.
If I had a nickle for every time I swung my baseball bat at people who think they know better about Infrastructure - I'd be a billionaire.
