Game runs on every os though, even 7 or mint. Unfortunately you can no longer buy it on this store nor that store so it was quite the pickle up till then.
excuse me I can read it fine was just suggesting a way so people can read at a glance and make your points stand out more.
prick.
That would really piss me off :p
Should use the total active users, not peak active users. out of total active users it would be ~ 1 million users. The question is how much revenue does Valve get from that ~ 1 million? My guess is not very much, not enough for continued support.
Epic has NOT stopped support for Windows 7 at this time.
https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/epic-games-store-c5719341124379/launcher-support-c5719357217435/system-requirements-for-the-epic-games-launcher-a5720223129627
And doing a search brings nothing about Windows 7 support being gone either.
Epic Store Client still runs on Windows 7.
In your opinion what is the down side of using Epic?
And is there any benefit over GoG ?
true, but some tend to think "support" is stopping said clients from running on win 7, sadly these people are mistaken, no support is needed.
You are right about Linux support doesn't have to to do with the numbers. For Valve, Linux support is more about being prepared with something just in case Microsoft decides to do something real bad with Windows, like turn it into an Apple iOS like system that won't even allow other stores to exist on Windows, or anything else they might think of doing that can cause disruption to Steam.
If Valve didn't have this worry about Microsoft, then I doubt they would be supporting linux in such a way they are doing now.
No, it was just a suggestion because the points were not clear at a glance.
It wasn't a big change literally i put some spacing and numbers that is all.
Usually I would apologise but in this case I will not because you know all and know I am scum for making it more coherent at such a late hour.
I will take my primitive Kurgan ways and leave you happy in your misery at the audacity of a few spaces and numbers added to what was a very helpful piece of information to people.
My opinion? Well to understand my opinion, I'm someone that the ONLY thing I care about with store clients is:
- Buy game
- Download game
- Update game if I want it to update, and still be able to play the game without it being updated (Steam fails at this part even in offline mode)
- With in the same household have more than 1 different game from the same library being played at the same time without using an offline mode. (Steam fails at this one)
- Play game.
That's it.
So to answer your question, in my opinion the only downside to EGS is that if a game has an update available, I have to go into offline mode for the game to prevent it from updating, alternatively I can user Heroic Launcher without being offline and it will ask me if I want to update the game before launching the game, I can say no and play the game.
So that is the only downside.
other than Epic having games that GOG doesn't have due to Epic allows games with DRM, GOG is better since I don't need to use offline mode (or use an alternative client) to prevent updating of games, and they have up to 5 most recent versions of the game always available to roll back to if needed.
At some point I wouldn't be shocked if Epic said they drop it this year at some point, or next year, they been on & off what they're doing with their client slow but getting there what they're doing from roadmap.
Gog > all others if all you care about DRM free, with no need of client / launcher.
We don't have solid numbers for total users, only guesses by 3rd parties. I was using a proven, solid number, not pulling them out my rear.
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-drops-windows-7-and-8-support/
Epic dropped support for Windows 7 and 8 is Fortnite. It really isn't much of a stretch to think they will do the same with the Epic Store too. After all, they have announce they will maintain support either and you know Tim Sweeney would jump at any chance to "one up" Valve, so if there were plans to keep support, they would have said so.
So while it does currently support Windows 7, that doesn't mean they won't stop in the future, then those who went to Epic for Windows 7 support will be in the same boat all over again.
in 2021 Valve stated 132 Million monthly active users
https://store.steampowered.com/news/group/4145017/view/3133946090937137590
in 2022 Valve stated there was growth, though no number shared https://store.steampowered.com/news/group/4145017/view/3677786186779762807
So know they have at least 132 Million active users, using official data.
The point of my comment was to someone that was claiming support was already gone and that the client will not run on Windows 7 at all right now, I was correcting their false information they were sharing.
