epic games launcher is unequivocally the worst platform out there

a basic feature like scanning game folders is absent and has been absent since launch but that's not too bad. I'm fortunate enough to have a gigabit fiber. so instead of waiting 5-10 minutes for large 100gb+ games I have to wait 30 minutes for the download to finish.

however the recent most hilarious development had me guffaw and question the sanity of the people who developed this appalling "platform".
I assume most people grab the giveaways and never bother with the launcher again.

now I frequently logged in during the last week to get the daily giveaways and I traveled to southern italy to visit my family.
today when I attempted to log in on my laptop, I received an error for "logging in too often" haha.

so I contact support and they tell me I should refrain from using vpn etc. which I didn't whenever epic was running. other than than some boilerplate garbage you probably have probably seen before.

TL;DR
I got banned for frequently logging in for the daily giveaways. I guess some automated system discovered that my weekly logins changed to daily logins and deemed it dodgy haha.

btw I didn't buy anything. I don't own any purchased games or software on epic.

So they have achieved a Steam Milestone finally. Downtime during a large seasonal sale.

Anyway, no service is safe from getting those. Crap happens.

It happened to Steam for a looooong time.
Downtimes due to people DDoSing the service during summer and winter sale were so ubiquitous that 'don't try buying something during the first hours of a flash/daily deal' became common advice to novice users.

don't assume my point was that steam is my ally. i've had enough experience to know steam is not and will not be my ally. I just like to read EGS is not doing as well.

the service still lags in the first 30 minutes of a big deal and usually goes back to normal after about 2 hours. i know Steam might occasionally get hit by one of these things, i just like to read EGS is getting hit harder.

"Not doing well" as usual mostly hits the lower rungs in a corporate structure, the ones with no ability to make changes and/or decisions. Basically you want random people to get fired.

ah I see. that makes sense. I raised the subject when I contacted the support but they instead told to refrain from using a vpn haha.

I honestly don't know what happened because every customer support has significantly been degraded over the years.
recently I contacted amazon support and they instead connected me to amazon games lol. I don't own a single amazon game...
