I`m sticking with Win 7. My desktop has to much productivity software/hardware than to go through all the rigmarole of updating the O/S just to play a few (101) games. So cheerio all - its been a blast.

After several runs of rundll32 advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks in an admin command prompt, rebooting every time, I got a Windows 10 22H2 laptop working quite decently.

I run HDD on my Windwos 10 laptop fine - no different to any other previous system.

As someone that's owned countless computers over the last 40+ years, you eventually have to buy a new computer. For now. But eventually something will change that won't, or can't, be updated in older OS versions which could eventually lead to more and more websites not working correctly.

Having seen the "quality" of modern game releases in the last couple of years, i dont feel like the people sticking with windows 7 are actualy going to be missing out on much.

support for XP ended in 2009. It is 2024 in most places.

2024 - 2009 = 15 years, and it is still getting updated browsers. I think the Win 7 people will be fine.
