Do we really need to still be using ReCaptcha?
Just spent half an hour trying to get access to my own account while Google over and over and over said ClIcK eVeRy BoX wItH a BuS!1!

Seriously this is the biggest DRM platform in the world and you can't make your own Captcha system?

Try another browser or disable your browser extensions.

Don't use a VPN while trying to do the Captcha.

And this coerces us to train Google's AI, which is messed up on many levels.
Also, the captcha think you are a bot if you are accurate instead of very sloppy, i.e. the implication is that humans all have crappy minds and if you got a good mind, you must be a machine.
Dystopian. - As I often say, we might end up in a world run by robots calling themselves humans and humans robots.

I do. Recaptcha seemingly does not.

Google constantly insists that I can't possibly exist because I don't use a cellphone. We've already gone off the deep end.

To solve the captcha and regain access to your account.

Considering that for big companies it counts for actual security (while we can probably all agree it is not)... The alternatives would be extremely invasive options to replace this with. This become a "be careful of what you are asking, you might actually get it" kind of scenario...

It also seems to have problems telling the difference between bicycles and motorbikes in my experience, with it often forcing me to select the 'motorbike' picture I've ignored when it's asked me to identify bicycles.

There are other Catchpa's out there that use just one or two screens so there's no need for more invasive options as other users are suggesting.

What I find bothersome: Recently I learned how that mysterious box click captcha works: I tracks your mouse movements! This would mean that without making you aware, when you are on a page with such a captcha, they can harvest all your mouse movement data there for whatever devious purposes they absolutely want to.

They mean don't use some sort of proxy that hides your normal Internet connection. If you are connecting to Steam directly through your ISP, ask them to get you a new IP address, though depending on ISP you might have to go into your router and make it spoof a random MAC address to force a new lease.

Well, I'm having the same struggle making a new account for my kid. And I don't have any fancy VPNs, or extensions. I cleared this and that cache and whatnot per online instructions. I tried with a different device and a different email. And it alternately tells me that my captcha is invalid or makes me do about a dozen of them (and yeah, with those grainy images, a bus is hard to identify sometimes) and then tells me to wait because I might be a bot. Y'know, like they're warning me I might be one. And I'm not the only one dealing with this, and Steam conveniently doesn't have any specific support topic for creating accounts.
